Got the JB4 full kit, is the EWG harness necessary?

I have only installed the BMS CAI so far (busy weekend w the kids). Doing plenty of fact finding and research before I begin the work of gapping the HKS plugs and installing the JB4.

Main question for this thread is - Do I need the EWG harness? I bought it just in case. I only plan on running Map 2 and maybe toying with Map 3 in the future. My Stinger is my daily driver, not going crazy with it. Will the harness help/do nothng/cause issues?

After this mod is complete, I am installing an MBRP exhaust and that's it.

Thanks for the help!

If you’re not experiencing overboost or have downpipes, I’d say no.

Roger that. Won't be doing downpipes, just the MBRP exhaust. Thanks

I'd stay away from EWG. They have been known to cause issues.

I was overboosting after install of the MBRP exhaust and had to get the EWG harness. After dialing in the EWG in the app, it was pretty good never overboosting again and no other issues.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I was getting overboost with nothing but intakes and the JB4 even with the EWG wires and settings adjusted.
Just saying.

I dont really understand what you are trying to say

Took me a couple of tries to dial it in, it wasn't the cookie cutter setting that they have on their instructions.

The EWG did not solve the overboost condition being set in my case. So in my experience they didn't help much.

Did you contact BMS for help?

Yes. The settings were adjusted pretty much to the maximum level for the EWG, still had overboost.

What did they advise after you have done the modification and it was still overboosting?

They advised me to adjust the settings until overboost stopped happening. Well that didn't work, so I decided to go with an ECU tune. I got pretty sick of it.

to this point I’ve never had any issues with the EWG wires. Never had a CEL or an overboost. I accumulated all of my parts before I began each installation. I did each install within days of each other to be sure each part was installed correctly…no warning lights or strange sounds. Took me about 7-10days. I also reasoned that if I was going to change the intake and increase the airflow up front then I should probably install the exhaust in shirt order to be sure the increased airflow had equal opportunity to exit the vehicle as it did to enter. I use up to MAP4, 93 and E85.

After I put on my Ark catless secondaries, I got a few overboost conditions. I then installed and adjusted the EWG wires and settings which seemed to help.
I since got an EK1lite and flashed Terry's BEF and have now disabled the EWG wires, and have not has any overboost issues. The BEF is amazing, I use E30, WMI and map 6 with a few tweaks to the higher RPM's and the car runs great.

EWG only really need with modified exhaust on cars that over boost. But with our BEF we can also adjust WGDC on that end usually.
