Top speed limiter removal

Ah, then the 2019 AWD with A/S tires had a 130 MPH limit set. Must be it. Right about then, the 2020 trims were coming out and that would have been when I was seeing conversations about "No, the limiter is at 140, not 130": and I recall someone even linking to the Kia specs page showing the 140 limit with AWD equipped with A/S tires.
you have it backwards, it started at 140 and was lowered to 130 after the first few months of release, as well as dealers where instructed to flash all 140mph limited cars to 130. That's what I was told by two separate dealers near me.

hmmm probably! my registration says my car was originally sold in 2017 but is a 2018

welp thats how new model years work so it makes sense, my build date was 11/17 on my 2018 and its stock ecu has a 130mph limiter, I know that for certain. My lozic ECU def does not, the tunnel vision at 155mph in an undisclosed part of Mexico last weekend told me so.

it started climbing pretty slow at that point so I just stopped. cars in front of me started getting close pretty quick lol.

hmmm if your car is stock then I believe having a jb4 will allow you to go a little higher maybe? complete guess
I’ll most likely do just bolt ons and this one single unit device to break the top speed limiter for now until I’m ready for a tune

155, that's how fast I went, once. Tunnel vision is pretty accurate. :D

So, your original limiter was reset to 130? It makes sense that I could get this backwards, since the discussion(s) I dimly recall were not clear as to build dates.

Honestly would have kept going if I had my summer tires on and it was warmer out. had plenty of room and it was an ever so slight downslope so it could have been a top speed run if I decided I wanted to use all my brakes instead of coast to slow down.

I had my bike up to 147 once. I was worried about the luggage breaking off at that speed. Also, there's the speedo error factor. Probably a good 130mph at least.

unless its a really old bike, the error would be minimal, you where probably doing low 140s.

Sadly I don't remember what the error was, compared to gps. Don't really look down at those speeds.

does it connect directly to the car or the jb4?

From the starting post I posted to start this thread it looks like it can be used in conjunction with the JB4 . You can check that single unit out on n54 website or email Terry at burger tuning

The factory Bridgestones on my ‘22 GT-Line are V rated which is 149 mph. I am guessing the 130 MPH limit has more to do with braking performance than anything else.
My '20 GT-Line with the 2.0T engine comes with smaller brakes than even the '22 GT-Line's brakes, and my speed is limited to 149 mph. Mine came with the 19" inch wheels and tires that are rated Y for 186 mph. I'm pretty sure it's not speed limited to 130 mph because of the base brake's performance that comes in the GT-Line.

Is it "limited" to 149 MPH, or is that the 2.0L engine's top speed?

Good question. It might be the engine's top speed. I could only take it to 146 mph before some slow car made me brake, so I haven't tested it after that to a speed higher than 146 mph. Wikipedia says that the top speed is 149 mph for the 2.0L. I'm in a local Stinger group on Snapchat, and a couple of times, some people from the group sent videos of them going slightly downhill with their 2.0L Stinger GT-Line, and they were able to go 160+ mph. So like you said, this also makes me think it's the engine's top speed.

I have a 2023 GT Line and I top at 131mph. I would love to see what it actually can do.

Ordered from terry through email. He stated everything works fine with it and it can be used as a stand alone unit without JB4 to unlock top speed limiter.
I am new to the car and the form. Can somebody share what 2 tunes you have ordered to accomplish this and share the email for Terry? ???

So, In case anyone is curious, Sxth ECU tunes change the top speed limiter without doing the adjusted reading trick that Lozic, lap3, and tork use/have used in the past. my JB4 still tracks the speed accurately in the logs and its safe to say the 130mph limiter that my car is suppose to have... is not present.

I bought my 2018 GT2 used. How do i know if mine is limited to only 130 or 140 or not without risking it?

if you have square 18" wheels your limited to either of those two speeds. if you have staggered 19" wheels your top speed is 167 mph. this is for 2018, where michelin summer tires went on the 19s and bridgestone potenza a/s went on the 18s.

looks like i have the staggered 19in rims. I guess there is always a chance that the prior owner could've switched the tires too but likely not? it's also RWD and not AWD
