Borla Exhaust for Kia Stinger

After inquiring about this for about a week. I got an email from Rick Strauss today. He's confirmed to me that everything is available to purchase as of today. I just have to do it with an authorized dealer. I'll update you guys as I continue my emails with him.

So, I am new here and let me know if I violate some obscure rule or whatever. I talked to Steve Williams at Borla a few weeks ago and this is the straight scoop on the Polyphonic exhaust that was on the orange Stinger at SEMA.

That exhaust is exclusively distributed to Rick Straus over at Stinger Haus. So I called Rick and he told me three relevant things about this Borla system. One, it will only be available through a Kia dealership and all they have to do is register with him online at the website. Two, the exhaust will be available very quickly as it is in final production and about ready to ship and, three, the tips will be awhile yet because they are just going to production now.

I went to my dealership in Henderson, NV and had the GM sign up. I will be home Saturday and will go in to complete the order and I'll post the prics here but I am told it will probably be right at $1500.

Hope this helps. Now over to the tune section to post what Delicious Tuning related to me.

JimB,
Thanks for the info... it will be interesting to see if the system I purchased directly from Borla online turns out to be significantly different than the Borla - Strauss version you discuss above. In any case it has to be better than the stock system... which really isn't half bad tone wise...only problem is the stock system is just too quiet for a car with this kind of performance. I can't wait to see how this system sounds in person..LOL

I would be interested in hearing the tone of that exhaust you just received. The Borla "SEMA" exhaust is their new polyphonic design. Apparently Dave Borla took what he learned with his Master's(?) degree in music and designed a new way of tuning the sounds exiting the exhaust. My curiosity is what sound the different exhaust models have. To be honest, I didn't even realize that Borla had two different exhausts and I thought that if you wanted the Borla brand you only had one choice.

That's what I thought too until about a week ago when Borla listed an exhaust for the Stinger on their websight... I went over their advertising and the one I bought supposedly has the " poly phonic" core with multiple cylinder - tubes to modify the sound. The system I ordered does not come with the Carbon Tips... so that may account for the difference in cost.

Hmmmm.....now I am going to have to do some more research!

Thanks for the info Jim. I am a Vegas resident. So I know where I can go if I can't find one here in the south where I work.

Not sure what Borla is doing related to their Stinger exhaust. I ordered my system directly off their website...yet written on the shipping box is " "Distribution through Stingerhaus ONLY"

Then multiple people on the forum are being told they can only purchase the exhaust through Stinger Haus at their local dealership. I made multiple email inquiries directly to Borla.com seeking clarification and so far there has been no response other than referring me back to their website. The website does not provide any clarity on the issue.

Kind of a bizarre launch of such a sought after product.

After emails with Rick Strauss. He managed to talk to the gm of a local kia. I think they just kind of heard him out then brushed him off. I decided to call said Kia and offered to put a 100% deposit down. At which point they were overly excited. Passing the phone around for me to repeat my order to multiple people. Then just now I got a call back from the service department manager who says will order the parts for me and do the install. And is hoping to Get the exhaust and tips in for me next week. Apparently he's never even heard about stinger haus before.

I just unpacked the Borla Exhaust. It is not recommended if you have the thought of getting the peices back in the box , as I sadly discovered...LOL... Pretty simple design and exactly what they depict on the Borla website... including the "polyphoinic tubes" in the extention pipes 20180321_162747.webp 20180321_162741.webp 20180321_162014.webp

I am curious to see if the borla I am getting from stinger haus will be different from the one you got direct.

Me too, I kinda suspect they will be the same. The box it came in even stated it could only be sold through Stingerhaus... I suspect dealer interest in signing up as distributors has been less than expected and Borla just decided to try direct sales because of all the confusion. Just speculation on my part.

That's what I am thinking too. I really really want those carbon tips. Otherwise I would of just gone direct.

The carbon tips look pretty nice... I am good with the stock ones for now...may reconsider if Borla sells them direct later...
