I’ve had my JB4 for a while now just installing it what a difference it makes I’m only a little concerned that I am not really able to read the logs do you know if I am running in a safe range love how fast it is but I really don’t want to hurt my car
I'm still an amateur at this, but here's BMS's guide, and how I'm learning to look at these:
Hey guys, We’ll use this thread for details and discussions on Kia specific JB4 logging parameters. Fuel trims and wideband o2 sensor control explained here...
www.jb4tech.com
I start by looking at
Pedal,
Gear, and
MPH (light orange) to get my bearings. In your case, the first couple hundred rows are low/no throttle, but rows 240-280ish have you mostly full throttle and 50-100 mph, or most of 3rd and 4th gear. BMS usually asks for ~20-80 which will give you 2nd, 3rd, and some of 4th.
(Your second and third file don't have anything useful due to low throttle -- if you're manually triggering these, just floor it and let the default 80% threshold in the JB4 automatically log.)
RPM &
Gear show your shift around rows 256-260 -- keep these in mind as some values like Timing and AFR spike or plunge and you want to ignore those.
Next I look at
Boost (which should be roughly ECU PSI + Target, or what your car sees plus what JB4 adds),
Trims (fuel, hits 40s at peak torque and mid-20s up high just like BMS says), and
AFR (12:1 as expected), all in light blue. Yours all look normal, with Peak boost of 16.3psi (you're only on map 1).
Finally, look at
FP_H,
Ign_1, and
Ign-2-6, all in yellow. Fuel pressure is rock solid at 10 (as expected on map 1); on higher maps/high E85 watch for drops. Ign_1 is overall timing, with drops of 3.5+ degrees indicating knock -- yours is rock solid except at the shift (red) which is expected. Ign_2-6 are the other cylinders relative to 1.
The 0.8s and 1.5s are no big deal, not sure about those 3s and 3.8s in Ign_2 (red). See what @Terry@BMS thinks or do a 20-80mph run and see if it's consistent.
