Window tint

Listening in. I want to do tinting at some point.

any way to find out what the percentage tint on this car is? Ima the second owner.
They sell meters on Amazon that test the amount of light that passes through the tint.

I have xpel xr plus
70% windshield
20% driver/passenger door
15% rear doors
5% on hatch

Crystalline I think was more popular when this thread started. Only reason I didn’t get it is because it has a yellowish hue that wouldn’t look good with my black paint. And they have limited % options.

...
I see, that won't be happening anytime soon at well over a hundred dollars. Ima curious but not that curious.

$350 for all windows except the front windshield with 3M film sounds reasonable, especially if you're working with a reputable installer.
Just be sure to double-check with the installer what exactly is included in the quote.
Well, the OP that got quoted $350 was 4 years ago, likely it is more now.

Oct 2021, I paid 450 for the 5 windows, plus 250 for the front windshield.

It’s probably more than that now.

Does the front 70% cut down on headlight glare at night?

It does a little. No where near the 5% on my rear but it’s something.

Hey, window tinting is a great way to add some style and protect yourself from the sun's glare. I've been considering tinting my own windows, but I heard it can cause issues in certain states. Gotta make sure to check the local laws, you know?

It took 2 years to do this... but 35% all around (not front) Formula One Pinnacle. On sale for $425 at Mr. Tint north of San Diego. It took 25 minutes drive in to drive out as they were not that busy and put 5 people on the car at once.

I have gone there many times before -- always good service. And nice to have warranty work provided with a smile on my last car after 13 years. I do not blame them or the film for bubbling after 13 years -- bound to happen as that car was parked outside. Not doing that to the Stinger... always garaged and parked under cover as much as possible (except for pictures)

Definitely check before doing anything.
Here in Canada, each province has it's own window tinting laws. I suspect it's the same in the US.
I had my windows tinted on my Nissan a few years ago. I live in Ontario.
My son took ownership of the car and moved to Newfoundland.
He got pulled over within a week, and had to remove the tint off the front windows.
Also, I'm surprised some of you are allowed to tint the front windshield. Nowhere in Canada can you do that.

We arent allowed front sides or windshield here in Nova Scotia. They fine you and you have to prove removal after you get the fine.
I have my back sides and rear window done with Limo tint, also my back window doesnt cover the middle brakelight...thats also illegal here.

It is. Looking up the laws in my area, For cars, Oregon is 35% for side windows (both front and rear) and rear window, and only 6" from the top of the windshield. Washington is the same but 24%. California is 4" top of windshield, 88% driver and passenger window, back windows and rear window is any %. Idaho is 6% windshield, 35 driver/passenger & rear window, and back windows 20%.

My dad has an old Sonata about 10 years ago that had 30%. He got stopped by a cop and ticketed for it (my guess is that the cop hadn't been laid since America's Bicentennial) and had to pull his tint.
