Start by apologies if this is covered in a thread already but I'm barely on here .

Noticed recently when I try to accelerate the car almost jerks / struggles/chugs it's way to accelerate (apologies again for poor lingo). Doesn't happen every time either. Not sure if it's occuring through shifts or not. Today I was going probably 70 mph and then hit the accelerator and it basically jerked/ chugged few times on its way to 85 mph and then my malfunction indicator light came on. It's first time the light actually came on during this scenario. Car didn't feel or sound right afterwards. Was on a busy highway so could not just stop. Once I was able to I cycled key and car sounded fine again with no light. Haven't driven it though, a little nervous too.

Thoughts on what could be the issue?!?

Btw I drive a 2019 Stinger GT2, about 18k miles

Sounds like overboost. Any mods?

my issue was more of a 'flutter' than a 'chug' or 'jerk'. when operating without the turbos everything felt completely smooth and normal. the cel didn't come on until much later. at first briefly but if I insisted on a hard accel it would stay on longer and finally would stay on until the engine was shut off. the problem ended up being a failed coil pack and sparkplug boot, they are a single unit. until I replaced that the replacement sparkplugs kept getting cracked in only a couple of weeks.

Best bet is a code reader. ODBII port is below and to the left of the steering wheel, behind a small cover.

Stillen exhaust and dual cold air intakes. Aftermarket oil can. I think that's it but I also bought car used so could be some hidden gems. No tuner...yet

Could be trans related. Check your fluids etc
Was at dealership recently for oil change and they did multipoint inspection. I'll have to check the paperwork but hopefully all fluids were checked

A little over 18k. Have not checked plugs. Bought car used around 12k miles, so uncertain if they are still OEM or not

How do I determine if the coil pack is bad? Check for cracked/failed spark plugs? Assuming there's 6 of them to check as well

Yeah I know, just don't own one. I could stop at AutoZone and borrow theirs im sure. If the code isnt active I could still see historical codes though right?

If it's a persistent error, you should be able to see the codes. And with a reader you can clear them out, drive around until the issue occurs again, and check again to confirm it's a fresh code and not an old one.

ODB scanners are pretty cheap online. And come to think of it, lots of older/less sophisticated cars have some kind of Konami code to view them directly on the dash, so I'd be surprised if the Stinger didn't have a way to view them there or on the main screen.

here was the sequence of my only issue with a misfire so far (over 60,000 miles). at around 45,000 miles kia service recommended that I change the plugs, two weeks later I went on a road trip and noticed hesitation when I engaged boost, it would stutter for the first one or two seconds then run smoothly with full boost. around 4,000 miles later, it got worse with a cel light coming on too, and I scheduled a diagnostic with my oil change, they found no. six cylinder plug was cracked and replaced. two weeks later the stutter was back and worse, so back in, and this time because of info gained on the forum I said, 'check the coil pack and boot', and it was bad, by which I mean corroded, this will ruin a new plug in, well, two weeks or less. the third plug and new coil pack / boot have performed perfectly since, the other five cylinders have behaved themselves.

Your "stutter" scenario seems exactly was is going on with my stinger. It's like a clumsy kid stumbling when first taking off until finally regaining the footing.

Wonder if my spark plug finally gave out. Will need to check and replace while also checking the coil pack. Do you by chance have any part #/source for buying a new one?

I don't. the service center gets all the oem parts. not a gearhead and don't work on my car.

Definitely confirmed tonight the "stutter" occurs during boost only. I think he pinpointed my issue! The cel light won't go off between key cycles now so I'll confirm code in morning and check on parts. Thanks!

it will be very nice if your issue is that simple, and it's under warranty to 60,000 miles, after that, anything electrical we pay. boo.

do you have the part number for the coil pack?

It was a single cracked spark plug. They said the coil pack was okay....see if it lasts
