I can’t be the only one who has wanted to put in an aftermarket sub. I hated not having my cargo space in my previous vehicle. And now that I have my stinger, I’ve been looking for what everyone else has done for their upgraded audio setups, but I only have found like 2 or 3 articles and they are lent what I want to do with mine. Has anyone else done a custom ported enclosure that’s off to the side?

Otherwise, I’m going to give it a shot and see what happens and give y’all updates

I should clarify I have the HK system, not base. Those graphs are from uncorrelated pink noise without any input EQ by me. My Helix V12 has 12 separate high level inputs, so every channel from the factory amp has its own input channel. What you're seeing is the signal after whatever filters and...

I wish I could have improved bass but not sacrifice any storage. I just use it to darn much to stick a box in there all the time.

same here, I need the functionality of the cargo space but my girls Elantra gt has better bass than I do LOL. The HK system really lacks low-end frequencies.

no it does not. but it takes quite a deep crossover to engage the floor subs. once they are in the mix the base is very strong.

Have you had any luck trying to tune it? My thoughts have been to run the floor subs on their own separate amp rather then the amp everything else is running on

Tune what? What's being turned?

The stock amp. It’s rated around the 25-40hz. The problem is the subs should be able to run lower

The stock amp is crossed over quite low, around 40 hz low pass crossover.
The stock subs receive frequencies below the low pass crossover point.

Apparently nothing. I’m asking if anyone has either modified what come stock or added aftermarket to get the bass to be better. Because there is a lack of low end that a lot of people want to add back to their car. For audio files, the sound is amazing and clear. But it still is lacking the lower end that at least I am looking for

A few have added an amp to the OEM subs, but if you use the signal from the OEM amp for your additional amp, you will only get amplification from about 40hz and below.

To do it more correctly, you have to sum the input signal together with the both the door drivers signal and the sub signal from the OEM amp - to an additional subwoofer amplifier.

I don't tune anything, but I read all the threads on modified sound system experiments in the stinger, not that I understand even half of what I read, maybe I'll eventually pick up some more by osmosis. as I said, the base is really very good once the floor subs come into the mix, which they will do if you have any track that has pronounced base playing. try some of the youtube 'bass boosted' stuff you'll find with that search phrase, for an overkill demonstration of what the harman kardon bass is capable of.

The issue with that is with tuning or swapping amps, you don’t need to find the specific tracks that have it cranked. I’m sure it does sound awesome. But it should sound awesome all the time

Before I added my 10" in the hatch I used a Wavtech Link4 line-out converter to sum the door woofer and subwoofer channels. This allowed a more conventional 100hz low-pass. It wasn't perfect, but definitely helped.

At this point I’m leaning towards 2 10” in the back as a custom stealth box on either side and the amp down by the spare. Running it wired to each stock sub out put respectively for each side. That or just a single shallow 12” and just send it

I feel one 10 is really enough in this car especially since we have the 2 subs already under the seats.
I had two 10s in previous car and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything really.

It looks like you already saw the install for mine on the other post. I have a dedicated amp, jl 10tw3, and lc7i output converter. I’ve had this set up for over a year and it’s been great.

my factory subs are kinda useless for me as i listen mainly to rock/metal/thrash, and not super low bass stuff like rap/hip hop. i wanted that tight accurate kick drum hit.

added a sealed enclosure Kicker powered sub i had in my last car - super easy install. with the battery already in the trunk, the hardest part was just tapping the factory amp signals ... no LOC needed with high level inputs on the sub, and no remote turn on wire needed with the "auto-on" setting.

i used some brackets to bolt the sub to the back of the right rear seat

Which channel did you tap into for the signal to your amp? The door speakers?

i don't remember, but probably. i wouldn't have tapped the factory sub signals, because then i'd be stuck with the lowpass filter applied by the factory amp.
