Having some issues with forward collision sensor occasionally on a 2022 GT2 Scorpion, wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Hey everyone, this is my first post after I tried researching the issue I'm occasionally receiving and couldn't find anything on it. I have had three instances where the forward collision sensor slams on the breaks during operation and shifts into neutral, and I feel that I am lucky to not have caused an accident in each of them. I took it to the dealer after the first instance, and they tested the sensor calibration and did a test drive. This was a spot where the road dips a bit and it's possible that the sensor saw the road very close ahead and assumed I was about to crash, but I have driven on this road in this lane at the same speed and have been unable to duplicate it here.

The second instance I was in the middle of a u-turn with no cars at least 100 feet in any direction and well-distanced from the median and mostly through the turn is when the brakes activated and my stinger shifted into neutral. I shifted into drive and turned forward collision off to continue driving, but the second I was unable to move and in the lane could have very easily caused an accident.

The most recent instance, I was turning onto a one-way street from a stop sign with a car in front of me and during acceleration (luckily before I was in the lanes) the forward collision sensors slammed on the brakes while beeping and shifted into neutral, making the car behind me also slam on their brakes. I turn here multiple times a day and have been unable to replicate the issue, I go in for service again tomorrow and I'm going to ask them to check the sensors again.

I purchased my stinger in October and I first experienced the random braking towards the very end of December. I'm nearing 15000 miles and I'm sitting completely stock, though I have some minor mods on the way. I'll update the thread if I hear anything different during my next service. Very curious if I'm the only one experiencing this, any replies are appreciated thank you!

Is there ppf on the bumper? Any license plate frame? Any possible debris in the sensors?

Sounds like more than calibration.

I’d demand sensor replacement or new f’n car.

There are class actions out there right now for other makes for the same issue.

Welcome into the open. I wish it were for something positive. What Cowboy said seems reasonable. After ONE heart-stopper like that, I'd be wanting nothing to do with forward collision and would turn it OFF: have it disabled unless or until they can find out what is happening.

I've had the forward collision work the brakes but not putting the car into neutral. Gonna have to check the manual about that part of it. Oh, I don't have any idea beyond those above. I would be disabling it until rectified.

Pretty sure the AEB only uses the radar transponder in the middle of the upper grill, so make sure there is nothing significant there. Some dirt or small debris shouldn't affect it.

I don't know what the thresholds are, but I've had some close calls where the car made noises - I was in full control, knowing exactly where my car is relative to car ahead and how quickly i'm approaching it, about to do a lane change. While it actuated the alert, it never did apply the brakes. For longer trips I turn this garbage off, but around town, why not.

I'd say either there's some malfunction with the OP's system or it is indeed a calibration issue.

OP, do you have a camera in the car? Perhaps that would help the techs too¿?

So sorry to necro here, it seems to have been an isolated issue. Unfortunately I had a run-in with a semi truck’s tire and had to replace my front bumper but I haven’t installed a front license plate or the frame and the issue has not returned. Was a series of 2-3 isolated incidents in a short period I suspect a rock could have misaligned a sensor, but the dealership ran calibrations and found nothing wrong. For good measure, I took it to another dealer for the same results. I still avoid that lane out of fear

I don’t have a camera, unfortunately. Will be investing in a nice one sometime soon though! Got a couple of mods I’m interested in doing before that :)

the same electronics that govern forward collision parameters apply to the smart cruise system. I've had the car decelerate, then apply the brakes, and once when I did a rather sudden lane change at an interchange and got behind somebody, the system even downshifted, that was surprising. I do not drive with forward collision or blind spot warning on. but I've noticed that if you engage the smart cruise that next time you look in 'driver assistance' options the forward collision box is checked, so I think that using cruise checks that feature as default. not a hundred percent sure about that.

It’s usually on regardless, at least the emergency breaking system. I don’t use the smart cruise or the lane keeping anymore unless I’m stuck in traffic or something similar. In the problem areas from above I just hold the traction control until it disables forward collision and stability
