Took the Stinger GT1 in for a dealership oil change, they're a good group. Don't know if someone changed some settings but the rear view mirrors now open and close (stow next to the body) when I walk near it with the key fob in my pocket. Never did that before. Anyone know what's going on? By and large I find the owner's manual lacks a lot of what should be described. Don

someone bumped the selection switch to 'auto' when the mirrors were set to 'open' position before.

Yes, I know what's going on. There is an option in the cluster menu where you can make the mirrors open/close when you get near the car. It's something with "welcome" in it :). Maybe look under Convenience where you have all those other settings with the Smart Tailgate and the Easy Access for the steering wheel and driver seat.
I had it on when the car was delivered and found it super annoying. But that was 4 years ago :)

on my '22, there are 3 positions on the mirror switch ... close(right)-auto(middle)-open(left).

auto position, from the manual:
The mirror will fold or unfold automatically as follows:
  • The mirror will fold or unfold when the door is locked or unlocked by the smart key
  • The mirror will fold or unfold when the door is locked or unlocked by the button on the outside door handle.
  • The mirror will unfold when you approach the vehicle (all doors closed and locked) with a smart key in possession.

But the third is in opposition to the second. You have to select one or the other from the menu.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

you can turn off in menu, "convenience" i believe, might be welcome mirrors or welcome something...

i "Think" the mirror/light feature in the convenience portion refers to the light on the mirror that shines down... reading the manual looks like the opening/closing of the mirror when you get close with the key or unlock, is done by having the switch in the "auto" position.

I am pretty sure it is the "Welcome mirror/light" function in Convenience.
If you leave it on, the mirrors open and turn on the puddle lights when you approach the car. If you turn it off that will happen only when you unlock the car manually (button on key or button on door).
