I am buying a 2019 GT2, does that have the Kia Connect capability? Will I be able to remote start it from the app or turn on the heated seats or anything from the app?

I think it depends where you are. Im in Canada and have full functionality.
I can remote start and turn on heated steering wheel and rear defrost and set heat settings...sadly heated seats cant be turned on with the app.
Post where you are and Im sure someone in your local area can tell you what works.

I’m in the states, hoping I can get some functionality with the Kia connect app.

I cannot with my GTS. Had to purchase a separate remote start module.

I’ve often wondered what exactly is different about the Canadian models that allows the control they have and if a US Stinger could be retrofitted.

Seems odd, but guessing colder climate?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I think it has to do with laws about broadcasting information and privacy issues.
Even though personal info isnt being passed I dont think KIA was willing to jump through the numerous legal hoops and BS that it would entail to have it active even though the hardware is there already...blame it on the regulations in your area.
I love the app and use it daily...it is a little slow because it uses satellite and not cell tower communication, other than that its great.
Here is the website you can put in the vin to check and see if it will work on your car.

When I click that link and enter the vin it shows the Kia eServices app, but I do have the Kia connect app and that shows I have to use the eServices to activate Kia connect

US doesn't have this until the 2022 model. Even then, you can't in Mass. due to state law.
There are aftermarket options, I have the Accessorides unit.
