Anyone running ngk spark plugs ? I saw a thread on fb today about a guy who hks plugs went bad after 19k miles. Are the ngk spark plugs the superior plug to get or the hks ? Any benefits over one over the other? Ngk plugs are half the price of hks as well.

My hks plugs are 50k miles old no problems

HKS Spark Plugs are typically better and longer lasting than NGK. I have had mine on for 25k miles with no issues.

Good to hear. Haven’t heard too many ppl have problems with the hks but have come across a few hit or miss. Just was wondering if these plugs provide some extra benefit. Also are you tuned and on boost daily ?
They are iridium tipped plugs and made of better material than the NGK plugs. The HKS plugs are pretty much required once you tune your car. I am not tuned but have the plugs upgraded as I was preparing to install a Jb4 just have not had time to get around to it lately. I drive my car pretty conservatively 90% of the time but on the days I get on it, I push the car pretty tough the whole day .

Link to NGK plugs, I tried to find a one step colder plug but had to go with the Denso?

Yes, those are the stock temp range. I was looking for a step colder, that's probably

Thank you

If tuned, and under high boost a lot, any plug will need more frequent changing. HKS seems to last the longest of all of them.
I just got my second set from K8 stinger store (during the holiday sale) that I plan to put in before the local drag racing season opener (Mar 1).
Just make sure to check the gap, mine came in right about .028, so I set them to .024.

We are running NGK ILKR9Q7G Laser Iridium spark plugs in both our 2.0T Stinger and G70. 1 heat range higher than OEM. We've done AutoX and Track Day, with no issues so far. Veloster N and Elantra N guys run them too.

I have the original ngk gapped to 0.025" after about 10,000 km.
I am now at 102,000 km.

Hks FTW

BMS "recommends" HKS, which accounts for its favorable rating and preference. If you pick an NGK in a similar grade, there is little difference to the HKS. Compare the specs here:

They are basically identical... materials and construction. In fact, they are probably the exact same plug. HKS specializes in aftermarket parts of all kinds, catering to the performance crowd. They don't manufacture their own spark plugs. NGK actually is the OEM for HKS, which gets their own private label and performance aura tacked on... along with their markup.

Thanks for clearing that up my guy. So basically same plug

Kirkland branded NGK plugs would be great. Same quality with value pricing. Only problem would be they would only carry plugs for the Camrys and the F150s.

HKS is like Neiman Marcus special edition cars - basically the same car but twice as expensive.

Interesting. NGK says they are not compatible with the 3.3T

They are for the 2.0T. I got that number from the Veloster N guys using them.

Dunno what the cross reference for the 3.3T would be, though I'm sure NGK has it in the same laser iridium line.
