^^Driver was making a turn. I would expect that requires more brain activity than driving at a constant speed in a straight line.

@stoopid Years back I'm the first vehicle stopped at a red light on a motorcycle. It's a dry sunny afternoon. I'm stopped facing north on a N/S intersection. Next thing I know im getting punted into the intersection because gramps didn't see me. Fortunately traffic was very light and I didn't get hit by cross traffic.

@JSolo I can't say definitely that he was drunk, but my buddy thought he was, he refused a field sobriety test and while we were leaving he was being administered a breathalyzer test.

We were close to my house and about an hour later when my buddies left the cops were still on scene and the car was being towed. To be fair, the radiator was destroyed though.

I'm pretty sure he didn't slide. There is no sound on the video but I didn't hear any squealing, scritching, nothing until impact. I watched the inside video and we had less than a second to react. Felt like it took several seconds in the moment.

Surprised you didn't need to rent a hotel room to get far enough away so you didn't shoot them. Self control must be a uniquely Illinois thing. lol But you could have tapped into your inner Utah if you really wanted.

Noticed the car doesn't move awkwardly like it was sliding, either. With wet roads and speed it was the first explanation that comes to mind.

Did the police give them a field sobriety test? I'd assume at that point they were under the influence of something.

Unfortunately alcohol is one of many inhibiting drugs. That's why a field sobriety is still 'best'. Probably stoned or using pills, etc.

Doesn't really change the outcome much for you with the dashcam footage. But if you were injured, the degree of negligence plays a huge factor in the payout. "Shit happens" incidents pay out much less than "intoxicated maniac" incidents.
