Anyone else experience this? My passenger rear door is showing on the display as open when its not and the alarm goes off all the time while driving and the dome lights are stuck on during driving. Just happened this morning...

Im assuming its a door jam switch issue or something. Car is a 2018 GT with 25k miles.

Sooooooo turns out we don't have door jams switches...so I'm left wondering if I have to replace the entire latch assembly...

I appear to have fixed this issue at least temporarily by reseting the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 5 mins.

Electronics, like a waking nightmare. It hasn't cost me any sleep so far, but I can see how it would/could.

My door is now fully possessed and tonight I had to unhook the battery for fear it will kill my battery. The car can be totally locked and armed and the dash will flicker and light up randomly thinking the rear door is opening and closing over and over. Its brutal, it looks like I have no choice but to order and install a new door lock actuator because the ajar switch is part of the lock and not seperate like on a lot of other cars.

I tried hitting the latch with a bucket of WD-40 to soak overnight and pray that it will lubricate the switch enough or something to make the door switch close until I can get the part I need.

I know Im talking to myself here but figure I'll keep updating the thread in case anyone else has this same problem. The problem persists and it's clear the door lock actuator needs replacement. I called the dealer regarding the cost of a passenger side rear door lock actuator. They quoted me a $498 Canadian funds...I had a hard time not laughing. I ordered the part online from an American suppler for about half that and will do the install myself.

498 just for the part??? is it part 81410-j5000?

That is correct, except that part number is for the driver side rear actuator and I needed the passenger side rear with has a slightly different part number.

I'm having suddenly the same issue on my kis stinger gt2 2018 with only 18K. I try to disconnect the battery but didn't work out. I'm going to contact the dealership should be under warranty.

If the sound is driving you nuts you can temporarily disconnect the harness that feeds the door back there. It will keep you from opening the window and opening and closing the locks electronically but it shuts off the beeping. Im still waiting for the part to arrive so I disconnected the harness and bagged it to keep water out of it. Only takes a second with the door open to undo the harness its easy.

Finally received this part today and it was a pretty annoying job to do. If anyone has any questions let me know. It was 100% the door lock actuator as everything works great now. I'm kind of shocked because the car only has 26k miles on it and usually lock actuators last a lot longer than that.

Hey. I have the same problem. Was quoted $480 ish for the whole latch assembly. How did you make out with your fix? Where did you order it from to save money?

It wasn't a super complicated process but not a walk in the park either. I managed to install my new latch assembly and its working perfectly again with no door ajar alarm, but the part took weeks to get to me. It's easy to break something if you dont take your time and you'll need a trim tool and some other simple tools.

I got my latch assembly from getoemparts.com for $175usd shipped.

I'm having same problem 2018 Stinger GTW passenger rear door. You say not complicated but not a walk in the park either... No videos on this online. I'm assuming remove interior trim panel, then do you have to remove the window and interior panel. Just the main steps would be helpful, thanks.

Nope, no Stinger videos for this online but this video is almost exactly the same as the Stinger was:

I just had this issue on my 18 GT2. And a few days later the cold weather killed the battery. This was the original battery. After replacing the battery, the open door warning stopped. Maybe coincidence, but when the battery failed, it shorted internally. I think it was starting to fail and was dropping just enough voltage or causing some dirty power that caused that sensor to not work right.

If you have this issue, I would suggest a quick load check on the battery to rule that out before buying the new part.

Disconnect harness from the door to middle pillar, just lift cap up, not all the way. Door will still work but light inside won’t come on and it will not show on screen but it will fix problem

Thanks for the heads up but look at post #10 I had already discovered that trick.

This is also happening to me now as well, 2018 Kia Stinger with 60K on it, barely used the rear doors, weird... it came on the other day but now went away on its own again for the time being, not sure if it's the WD40 I sprayed or what, will monitor it, rear passenger door, seems like a recall should be done.
