I've put a lot of thought into what's out there and came up with my own technique on disabling the ISG, below is part one. This technique will also work putting your car in Sport mode every time you start the car. I will update this thread with part two and so on as I complete the videos.
I guess the biggest difference is price, and expansion. The Shark ISG is $47, and it controls the Auto Hold also. The relay I'm using is $12.99 and it can be wired to control ISG, Sport Mode, and Auto Hold. With a second $12.99 relay I can wire the Heat/AC seats to turn also. My solution is just a DIY... Both have to be wired in regardless. So for roughly $26.00 on Amazon, you can do what would cost almost $100 from Shark. Just giving people some options with the bit of Electronics I know.

Thanks for the explanation. Price is one factor in any situation to consider, but for me is not the overriding dictator. I actually have the Shark ISG module (not installed yet), but if your option can do more I am open to learning and watching to see what you are developing.

Something else I *think their module will do that mine won't, remember last state. This is a simple mechanical relay. For ISG and Auto Hold it will work perfect because there are only two states, on and off. For the Sport mode, if you shut the car off in ECO, it will only bump it up one. If you shut it off in Sport, Custom, or Comfort, or Smart, it will bump it up to Sport on each engine start.

I'm doing this for my track days. I hate waiting in line, stopping, starting, stopping... only to shut of ISG, go to Sport Mode, turn off Traction Control Stability Control every single time. I wanted to hit the start button, have all those setting done for when I stage.
i can't ever think of a time where that would useful (for me) ... or why i would want to get into the habit of just taking my foot off the brake at a stop ... ???

Some of the lights here in Vegas are several minutes. Hit 5 or 6 of them in the 15 minute drive and the feature's usefulness becomes apparent.
It's a convenience for those who use it. I wouldn't say using this makes me lazy (or stupid) as your post implies. I hike and rock climb every weekend, I'm no stranger to being active.

yeah, take it easy - it wasn't an attack on you personally LOL. also, i said the *feature* was dumb (IMO), not the people who use it. the majority of the population are "car stupid" ... i'm not sure its a good idea for people to get into the habit of taking their foot off the brake at stops ... that one time they forget to put on Auto Hold .... <TAP!>
FWIW, i used to creep through the tunnels into the city during rush hour, and i survived just fine without Auto Hold, and probably wouldn't use it even if i did have it at the time.
The feature has its uses, but like all "features", the end user should be given the option to use it or not.
The following is a list of other similar features
1) windows opened or closed
2) headlights on or off
3) wipers on/off
4) horn on/off
5) seats belt on/off
6) apply brake, throttle, or neither (or both)
7) heating or ac selected; desired temp selected
There's probably some i missed but you get the idea. Similar to how the driver chooses the above functions, the !SG nuisance should remember its last state. One step closer to self driving cars.
