PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!
So I did my first oil change Feb 28 and got a notice car is due for service. I barely drive working from home. First oil change was at 4K km, second oil change they put on sticker 10k. I'm at 6k km now and went in today to dealer and they said the stinger needs an oil change every 3 months or 6k km. I don't want to have issue with my warranty but changing oil again with only 2k is BS. Also they said they don't use synthetic oil and I'm positive thats what they said they put in back in February. I'm in ontario and go to Longmans Kia in Markham. I got the car from Brantford Kia but it's too far for me to go for an oil change, over an 1.5hrs away.
Am I getting f&*%ed over here? Appreciate any feedback.
Manual States 12mths/10000km. Personally I go in every 6000km and bring my own Synthetic oil. If your dealer isn't using synthetic then I would voice my concern with them.

No vehicle in the history of ever requires service every 3 months!
Your warranty is based on the service intervals in your owners manual, not the Dealers BS intervals. 12 months / 10,000 kms on synthetic oil or half that with conventional oil.
Your receipt from the last service will say what type of oil they used. If you don’t have it, ask the service department for a copy.

Technically, as far as I know, in Canada we're supposed to follow the "Severe Usage Conditions" maintenace schedule. For my 2021, that is synthetic oil every 6 months or 5,000 km. Seems crazy, I know, but for me it's worth it to follow the schedule and avoid any hassles down the road if anything were ever to happen.

Do you drive in Severe conditions on a regular basis? Synthetic oil is designed for a reason. Extended intervals, Extreme Conditions, Tighter tolerances, etc. If you changed your Oil at 10000km as outlined in the manual your not going to harm anything.

I totally agree, nothing will come to any harm ... but I don't want Kia to be able to hang their hat on anything if I ever need their help. I had a 2012 Kia Forte Koup and the engine blew about 1 month after the 5 yr/100k warranty was up. I had done my service at the dealer *by the book* (Severe schedule), and I didn't even have to say a word for them to advocate on my behalf to replace the engine. I guess it's my personal preference to pay a little bit more every year to avoid any potential hassles.

And not a single one of these would stand up in a court of law. Way to vague of conditions and detail and unable to be verified by Kia. Everyone should just follow the manual for Normal Condition intervals, use a good Synthetic Oil and be done with it. I do mine at 6000km just because it is a GDI Engine and want to keep the valves clean as possible. Also my service once told me when I asked. Just follow the manual(Normal conditions) doing your fluids and you will be fine.
I get my oil changed every 6,000km, as I get free oil changes from the selling dealer for as long as I own the vehicle. So, if they're willing to give me a full synthetic change every 6K on their dime, I'd say that's a reasonable frequency.
Interesting that the dealer has to balance what it costs them to do the oil changes at a more frequent interval than is likely required with their push to have every owner follow a dealer-prescribed maintenance package that also pushes additional maintenance at a shorter frequency than is required to comply with Kia warranty. Does the additional services offset free oil changes? - Not in my experience in the 100,000 kms that I've owned the car.
