Ok will do
hks gapped at .22 as well.
I would recommend the
HKS plugs over the
Densos, they just seem a little bit better. I was running into some overboost issues also, getting the JB4 with
EWG (along with
fuel wires, of course) and getting the FF dialed in will square you away. I am running Map 2 on 91 with the FF adjusted appropriately for my car and it is good to go. 93 on Map 2 or 3 with the settings squared away will be great.
Apologies for the thread hijack, but this is somewhat on-topic...
The
HKS were sold out at the
Stinger Shop and I couldn't find them in stock for what seemed like sane prices out there on the interwebs, so I went with
Densos just to meet what seems to be an acceptable quality bar in prep for a JB4 I have on the way. I haven't installed the
Densos yet, but posts like the above make me wonder...
First, consider that I am someone who probably won't be running more than 92 Octane (and thus Map 1 or *maybe* Map 2) at this time. I might play around with fuel additives if I decide to go nuts, but the reality is my wife also drives my car now and then and I don't want the car to be caught unawares so to speak (lacking necessary Octane in the tank should she decide to fill it up at Costco and then have a little fun in Sport mode). To that end...
1. Why are the
Densos sold as an alternative to the
HKS if they are problematic (in any way)
2. What does "a little bit better" (at 2x the price) mean to a guy like me (92 Octane, Map 1-2)?
In the grand scheme of things, I fully acknowledge that an extra $60~$90 spent across 6
spark plugs (delta between
HKS and
Densos) is vastly cheaper than even the diagnosis bill for any kind of engine repair that comes from a plug not doing its job in the worst case, but "a little bit better" is an odd way to phrase it if that's really what we're looking at.
If it's really meant as, "
Densos just mean you can't reliably run Map 3 w/ 93 Octane" then maybe I (and those like me) have nothing to worry about?
