• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Hi All

I am an 'on the fence' potential buyer of 2021 Kia Stinger GT Ltd
Just test drove the car today and was very impressed.

Pricing is in my budget and fairly comparable to the other cars I have been considering but one of the few things still tripping me up is the reported cost of maintenance.
I have heard that dealerships in Ottawa are charging around $300 for oil changes on Stingers (though I am not sure why it would be this much!)
PLUS the recommended interval is every 6k km

I drive a LOT.
My current vehicle was purchased new in April of 2015 and now has 325k km.

What are you all paying and how often are you doing your routine oil changes?
Any other high maintenance I should expect with the Stinger?

Last one....are you all using Premium gas on every fill?

Cheers!

Oil changes are the best thing you can do to keep any engine healthy... I provide my own oil (Mobil1 100% synthetic ) and my dealer charges me about $51... cost of oil the last time I bought it was about $90 for 3x 4.7L jugs...

You can run either fuel but I run premium (Shell)

My dealer said $100 plus tax for an oil change, 300 is bullshit. Take it to someone independent or do it yourself.

Agreed, I'd call around and get facts, $300 is service #3, and is much more than an oil change, and is a once every 24,000KM

Yeah -we're talking Service 1 here - basic oil and filter
I called the dealership I bring my car to now (chevy dealer) and they quote me $85+tax
The difference is crazy.
I am pretty sure I know the answer here but is there any chance Kia would ever void warranty for bringing the car to a different dealership than Kia for service?

Not if you keep your records, but I'm sure there is a mistake... Sure Stingers are a more than a Forte (more oil, more labour, and I would never do less than 100% Syn) but not $200 more... look at KIA dealer websites... many have service intervals and cost listed.

Call and ask, if they say $300 ask them if they are on crack... because others parts of Southern Ontario are just over $100. Also ask if you can bring your own oil, then you are paying only labour, and filters

Did my oil + filter at 401 Dixie Kia few months ago. Full synthetic. $103 inc taxes.

Only shell 91 goes in the car. None of that ethanol adulterated crap

You may also want to read this thread to get a true appreciation for the cost of service if you choose to follow the Dealer's service menu.

Free oil changes for life were included in my deal. That's for 2 a year. They charge $150 normally for a stinger.
Chevron 94.

Every 6000km and i bring my own oil (Quakers State Synth) to dealer to change. All probably costs me $100. I never do the Service 2, 3 or 4. Water of money and most of it is stuff you don't have to do. Follow the manual.

I don't lease and mine are free for life as well it just depends on the Dealership.

Get the oil at walmart when onsale/rebate, filter ~$7-10 depending where purchased. Labor, my own. I think the last OC cost ~$30. Plan to do once a year or ~5K miles. Car actually used about 1 and 1/3 jugs. Two cost $50, but $20 rebate.

The 2.5T calls for 0w30. 3.3 calls for something else.

Did not lease.
They charge $170 for a basic service now. They use the "Stinger specific" oil Motul 5/30.
Still filling up with Chevron 94 at $2.50 per liter. Fuggin price gouging oil companies.

I started doing my own oil changes (oem filters and pennzoil euro platinum fully synthetic) because the dealer was getting ridiculous when it came to service costs. The catch isnt that the oil changes are all that expensive, its that they claim you need these crazy marked up services all the time. They're using the fact that the car is their halo car as an excuse to ream people on service costs.

Do you use the Euro 5W30 or 5W40?

So I did my first oil change Feb 28 and got a notice car is due for service. I barely drive working from home. First oil change was at 4K km, second oil change they put on sticker 10k. I'm at 6k km now and went in today to dealer and they said the stinger needs an oil change every 3 months or 6k km. I don't want to have issue with my warranty but changing oil again with only 2k is BS. Also they said they don't use synthetic oil and I'm positive thats what they said they put in back in February. I'm in ontario and go to Longmans Kia in Markham. I got the car from Brantford Kia but it's too far for me to go for an oil change, over an 1.5hrs away.

Am I getting f&*%ed over here? Appreciate any feedback.
