Weird engine buzzing sound (bees?)

So I brought my 2022 GT Elite to the dealership to diagnose this noise. They said PCV valve and replaced it based on the tech pinching lines to see what would stop the noise.

Today the PCV was swapped after waiting about 7 weeks for it to arrive. Now the sound is worse than before.

Anyone have any idea what I'm dealing with? Happens at idle. Hard to say if it occurs at all while driving. This video is after a cold start but I first noticed the noise after driving to a restaurant to pick up food and leaving it running while I went in. Heard the sound when I went in and again after I came out, intermittently.

Car was bone stock when it first occurred. I've since installed BMS intakes.

BOVs and OCC. I dunno what I was smoking when I made that comment (last year was an insane year for me as well), because the dealer installed the OCC (not BOVs) and I put in the BOVs myself around the same time.

The OCC I have installed is SXTH Element Single catch can.

The BOVs I'm using are GFB Respons. I've played with the valve spring setting and didn't notice any recurrence of the buzzing sound.

Hope you get it sorted! God awful, embarrassing noise to deal with...

I suspect the OCC fittings and pressure drop at the can caused just enough of a change in the air flow to reduce the boost a tiny bit and keep the valve from closing.

That thread is helpful for explaining potential causes. Could be that a different spring rate is required in the PCV valve if you've done any modifications to change your boost levels.

Ha, it's all good. Yep, I figured something like that too, but it does it for me with no OCC as well. I've also search many spots for a leak, but so far no dice.

I'll try that chevy talk org thread and see what I find. Did you find your solution on that site? What was it that made yours go away? I don't have a tune, and the only air/fuel mods on my car are the VT Big Mouth scoops and catback exhaust. I'd be surprised if that affected my boost levels to a point of needing a different spring rate.

Not a pleasant noise, but at least the car still seems to drive just fine.

All good - I just got lucky that my upgrades fixed my issue. The true issue was never pin-pointed, and it seems like an uncommon issue, so the more info/suggestions the better, old thread or not!

It was definitely after the OCC was added that it went away for me. I'm trying to remember now whether I had noticed the sound prior to installing my air intakes, but it's possible that the noise started afterward.

That forum post just explained common causes of rapid PCV valve opening/closing and potential alternative solutions (i.e. new PCV with stiffer spring to accommodate higher idle boost/vac line pressures)

Have you noticed your car running colder than optimal temperature? My car is making the exact same noise. Only does it when AC turns on. Sound is coming from location of thermostat which is on that exact same side (passenger under turbo area)

My car is operating at normal temp, and it makes the noise with and without A/C running.

Interesting yours is only from A/C turned on. That is the first I heard of that one.

Hi!

Writing from sweden, i have a 2022 GT Elite, working at a kia dealership, my car is making this exact noise, we found that the noise is coming from the camshaft position sensor on the exhaust side on the passenger side.

We replaced the sensor but it's still making the same buzzing noise.. did any of you get to the bottom of whats at fault or why it's making this noise?

I think it has something to do with the variable valve timing but not sure why it's only the passengerside that's buzzing...

Edit: i checked and the camshaft position sensor we changed are located just next to the pcv valve, so it might be the pcv valve making the vibration we are feeling on the camshaft position sensor.

Will check PCV valve tomorrow and keep everyone updated.

The Buzzing on mine seems to be coming from the throttle body sensor area, though it only happens sparingly. I only know thats where its coming from cuz I can feel it vibrating slightly when it makes the noise.

Mine still buzzes from time to time, only hear it when pulling into my garage.

I gave a little update on mine on the What did you do to your Kia Stinger today? thread. A quick recap below:

Took it to my local dealership, the tech messed with it for 30+ minutes, then pulled in a 2023 Stinger right next to mine. Both engines running, in gear, with brakes down. The brand-new Stinger, and mine, both made the sound at first, then both quieted down. The sound could be replicated when the fresh air hose was pinched. Seemed like the pressure change in the crankcase made the spring in the PCV valve open and close rapidly, causing the noise. I was watching the tech poke around in there and he didn’t see anything wrong.

The tech and service guys said it seems to be a normal noise the Stinger makes...not 100% sold on that.

I still haven't figured out an exact reason/cause/issue, but she runs great with no problems.

I am having the same exact problem with my 22 GT2. I have an intake, JB4, and an OCC. The buzzing sound only happens at low idle and in gear. Did any one come up with a solution for the horrible sound?
