A question about air scoops

Ok, aesthetics aside, performance-wise do air scoops really do anything? Do they do enough to warrant the price tag?
Which ones are you referring to? Got a link? I would imagine getting some of the hot air out of the engine bay would be beneficial. I’ve seem pictures of the ones some of the boys in S. Korea are using and they looked effective. I’ve been toying with the idea of opening my up somehow for awhile now. Maybe it’s a good thing I haven’t gotten around to it.

Yes. The silencers on the front side of the core support are extremely restrictive. So bypassing those - by either using a big mouth or similar scoop, or using an open cone filter, will help the intake significantly.
Pop off the bumper (only takes a few minutes) and take a look at them. You'll see. Especially pay attention to how close the inlet ends up next to the flat plate of the bumper.

The ones in the link the thread generated when I mentioned "air scoops" are the only ones I've been able to find. The only other ones I know of are no longer available.

I don’t see a link. If you’re referring to the Velossa tech then yes worth it. I’m a believer in enabling your engine to breathe.

Might as well get a FMIC while you are at it.

Nah. Still too rich for my blood. Plus, I'd rather go with the Mishimoto one so it matches my catch can lol.
