I’m far from a heavy car garage guy but I do find myself more often learning about the stinger and find it quite enjoyable. I understand this platform is big with tuning whether piggy back, ecu or all out tune. The more I read about the different tune options the more my head spins . I understand there are simple options like the JB4 or Racechip. My main concern is the reliability of the tune and giving me problems down the line with the vehicle. I understand if you tune you are operating outside the factory specs and putting stress on different components of the car. I don’t want to be the fastest I just want to fully maximize simple bolt ons such as Catback exhaust, intakes, intercooler, spark plugs, and MAYBE DOWNPIPES as I have read they cause overboost issues sometimes. With just these mods how much whp could I make from stock ? Again not trying to be the fastest I just want to maximize the bolt ons when I purchase without having to tune and still have a peace of mind that if anything goes wrong I will be ok. Still enjoying the stock stinger everyday

I have a good amount of bolt-ons (see signature) and have been running so for more then 2 years (have has the car 3+ years, almost 60K miles) and have had zero issues.
My best Dyno Run in March of 2021 was 494 HP at the wheels. :)

We've been over this OP lol

From your sig it looks like you are tuned with the Lap3 pro tuner. Without the Lap3 pro tuner what kind of power were you putting down ? Still solid numbers for tune with that Lap3 and supporting mods

Lol we have now it’s time to reconvene again for one last finale. I appreciate the stinger community so much. This time I have my mind made up. No tune. All bolt ons. Final decision. I think lol

I said the same thing in my first year ownership.

Now I have a custom built ecu and tcu from a korean tuner lol.

But seriously, with just the mods you listed... Id guess 15whp? A guess though.

The Lap3 Protuner was one of my first mods, so no answer for you on that. I am still debating going with the Lap3 ECU/TCU Tune...

you need a tune if you want it all to combine together good

Sheesh just 15whp …. I know it has to be more lying on the table with simple bolt ons. I’ll tell you what … I’ll go full on bolt ons on the stinger and get it on the Dyno for the community to see what type of power is being put down with bolt ons. Do you know of anyone who had a Dyno before they went all out tune ?

Yep I understand that . I have to get the supporting mods before tuning anyway but I just wanted to see what type of power the bolts ons make before the tune as in that’s where I want to be

A guess, may be even 20-25 whp. Depends on the dyno you go to aswell. Dyno jet seems to be a nice experience compared to the heartbreaker mustang Dyno.

You should definitely let us know though. They are some vids on YouTube such as;

But tested with only a catback. Gained 15-16 hp. Again depends on the dyno.

which is more accurate? seems like the dyno jet is there more to make people feel better then give good results? don't know shit about dynos just a thought

Well in fairness mustang Dyno are hard on every car lol.

Dynojet is reputable. 330 whp stock stinger and all makes sense. Kia underrated the specs for sure imo.

My shop I take my car too has a Dyno jet. Once I get at least the Catback and intercooler I’ll pop it on the Dyno to compare stock

If you really want to compare, you should first dyno it as stock and after modding go to the same dyno. So you see how much you really gained.

good point on a baseline Dyno. Honestly stay away from the downpipe, don't really need it all that bad and it may prevent headaches. get a JB4 and run map 2 if you have access to 93 octane. intake, catback, plugs, intercooler if you like. she will be running great and the extra 4-5 lbs of boost should be pretty reliable and not cause any problems. probably add 100 HP at the wheels with just those mods. Heck, you might not even need the intake, but it sounds cool!

What map on the JB4 is most conservative ? And what kind of power are you getting with that?

I know ppl are on the fence about intakes and how they are only for sound. Are stock intakes sufficient for simple bolt ons with a bigger intercooler ?

you can run Map 1. I think the boost increase is 3-4 lbs depending on RPM. Probably good for 60 wheel HP or something. Burger has dynos on their website for reference. You can also run Map 0 and basically just be stock. Logging feature is nice to see how things are running and have others on the forum trouble shoot and stuff. I got the 450 HP kit from Burger Tuning. It's really a great value for the money. Add the Intercooler later as well if you really need it. If you aren't taking the car to the drag strip, you probably don't need it. JB4 is the real deal and tons of us have used it successfully. It's also very easy to take off for trips to the dealer for service or recall work. I would start with this kit first, then add a catback after. Intercooler last.
