Hello members...

New owner of a 2020 GT1 Ceramic Grey/blk int.

2 weeks ago my horn just suddenly stopped working. Note that prior to the failure, I also noticed the clown-car horn sounds coming from the engine bay.

Kia Service confirmed the horn(s) were dead. Replacements arrived in 3 days. The repair only took 1.5 hours, after having to remove the entire front bumper to replace them.

I wanted to pass along, that after they replaced BOTH the high frequency horn AND the low frequency horn... my car now sounds like the normal, average auto horn tone and loudness. Again, prior to the failure, I too had the silly clown honk...

This may be the issue on other Stingers, with the low freq. horn failing prematurely.

I was not given a reason why the horns suddenly failed, and no fuse was blown. I noticed it failed right after a car wash. So I am not sure if water is getting inside the horn fixtures. There is no recall or Kia statements regarding the horns.

Slightly off topic, but I want to also add, I too notice the big blind spots looking out the rear of the car. If you've ever owned a convertible (had 4 of them) they had the same sight restrictions as the Stinger. Not a real big issue.

But if you never carry a rear-center passenger, you can give yourself better visibility by removing the rear center head restraint. Fold the rear seat down and remove.

I appreciaete the forum and the members with all the info available. Looking forward to driving the car over the next 4-5yrs. Its been a blast since Jan. 25th, my purchase date.

Welcome to the forum....GT1. Glad you got the horn fixed. I haven't heard of any other members having this problem but I may be corrected in time. Strange they wouldn't tell you why it failed.

They probably don't know why the horns failed.

This is the only such reported case on the forum, in my experience as well, of the horns quitting.

Welcome into the open. And your intro post was a doozy. :D

I have a 2022 GT2 and the horn failed around 10,000 miles. Same symptoms, high pitched clown car sound and then it stopped working. Luther KIA in Bloomington, mn diagnosed my car and ordered both horns. Unfortunately they can’t get the horns, on back order from Korea. I have been without the horn going on 3 months.

I've had horns fail once in my entire life of over 50 cars owned, it is beyond rare. (when dual stage horns first came out)

AAACCCKKK!!!!!!

Dead or defective car horn???? Earthshaking issue.

A powerful horn and a healthy pair of middle fingers are absolute necessities for drivers here in central TX. They're polite when they shouldn't be or oblivious, distracted or agressive. Don

Michael have you gotten your horn fixed yet? Mine stopped working about a month ago. Also a 2022 GT2. Hopefully not on backorder still cuz it's dangerous around here not having a horn haha.

Holy Fright! Here in TX a loud horn is a necessity as is the middle finger. Don't know what I'd do if my middle finger were injured. Only half kidding. Don

Update
Horns finally came in. Got them replaced about a month ago. Never take a horn for granted. I just sound it off driving down the road just to hear it now. Brings a smile to my face!

I hope they sent the horn in for exhaustive post mortum… full dissection… then a full recall.

Something is up with Kia horns. I know someone with a ‘21 Seltos who just went in for the third time for horns. First time they claimed excessive moisture, second horns wouldn’t work in the winter when it was < 32 degrees. This last set worked intermittently then finally died altogether. If they started using poor quality horns in ‘21 models chances are some may have ended up in Stingers.

2023 Stinger GT-Line horn failure at 10k miles/13 months. Part ordered and a week away. Will post again when completed.

Wow, if you live in TX that's a catastrophic failure as is a sore middle finger. Fing idiot drivers. They fail to comprehend the concept of taking your foot off the gas for a gradual slowdown, aways the brake light causing a ripple effect for the cars behind.

Got behind a car at a shopping mall this afternoon. I light traffic the fool hit the curb and later accelerated with the brake lights on. SIgh. Don

Replaced my horns, but not because they failed, but because I hated to tone of it. It sounded too "happy". I'm not sure what chord the stock horns are, but the Hella horns I replaced them with are something close an A5 chord.

if mine fail, i will replace with Hella Supertones. i was actually considering doing it anyway, but as i get older i tend to leave things alone if they're working fine.

had Hella's on a few previous cars, and it was fun to watch drivers in front of me drop their phones and rethink their life when i lit them up. :D
they are directional, so not really super loud from inside the car, but in front of it they are pretty frickin' loud.
