I have an MY22 Stinger GT - and there is something that confuses me about the Climate Control system.

Sometimes, when I press the button to change the climate control position

I can't get it to show me the little icon to tell me if it is on face, face and feet, feet, windscreen and feet.

Instead - I get this fancy stylised graphic on the LCD showing blue breezes (for cold) or red breezes (for hot) ... and I just about have to pull over to be able to figure out what any of these mean! Yes - I am colour blind - and red doesn't show up well for me, and maybe it is light / reflections on the screen that made it worse, but even my non colour blind wife had trouble seeing the blue breeze graphics (even worse when it is on 1/3 screen instead of full screen).

I think that these may have come up as a result of pressing the CLIMATE button? Don't get me wrong, they are very pretty and all - but just a bit hard to decipher when driving.

I have definitely had times where the little icons I like show up ... and I don't get the fancy screen with the blue and red breezes - but I can't figure out how I did it. What are the conditions that I have to satisfy in order to bring back my good old faithfull little icons of feet, face etc?

On my 2018 stinger, before the Nov 2021 update it was attrocious. Worst HVAC screen ever

After the Nov 2021 update, it's great (right side is current software)

What software version do you have on your 2022? Is it current?

Thanks so much. Wow - that's it - I have the old software. What a difference. I definitely do not have the right side images. Mine is that awful left side stylised rubbish. I thought that since I was MY22 and the dealer did the initial service before he sold it to me this month, that I would have all the updates ... apparently not.

I guess I need to go to a dealer and ask them to update me (without doing too much damage to the car in the process).

You can download and update it yourself - super easy, a little time consuming, but easy, check the tech forum for details

If you have a good relationship with your dealer... You could do that. But they will likely charge you for their time.

Just go to

And click your way through the update

I have the same issue in mine, but am holding out for the april update (which I'll probably apply in may or june.... Or maybe hold out again til the nov update).

Curious...
Why hold out for the current stable version?

I enjoy the new features added this version, like the new valet mode, and the thousands of updated POI's on the map. The POI updates include removing thousands of POI's that have closed permanently.

Mainly because the next one is just around the corner.

Past experience has taught me to never apply an update as soon as it's released. I will usually wait a month or more to make sure there's no further "fixes" to fix the update. I got the car in august, updated in september. That's my once a year update strategy.

Also of concern is wear and tear on the system flash memory. After installing the next update I will probably hold off for sometime unless there's some really good useful features (like wireless AA) added.

Been in this area for too long so not really reliant on it to get around. Regardless how up to date the POI database is, it's always outdated.

Thanks for all the feedback all. I checked my version info - and it seems that the one that is available to download (for Australian cars) might actually be older? I haven't attempted the "upgrade" yet, just in case it is a downgrade.
In my MY22 Stinger GT (built Aug 2021, complianced Oct 2021) I have the following:
  • SOFTWARE: CK_22.AUS.S5W_L.001.001.210804 (so 4th Aug 2021)
  • FIRMWARE: CK_22.AUS.10.210804.MICOM (also 4th Aug 2021)
  • NAV APP: STD5W.AUS.KMC.210714.03f2d958_J9 (14th July 2021)
  • MAP: AUS.14.41.46.420.001
1645946800962.webp

When I did the download from the KIA link you gave me above, it SEEMS to be older versions:
  • SOFTWARE: CK_22.AUS.S5W_L.001.001.210709 so 9 July 2021 (mine is same but ends in 210804 so mine is more up to date 4 Aug 2021)
  • MAP: AUS.14.41.44.490.001 (mine ends in 46.420.001).

Do any Aussies with recently delivered (or recently updated) Stingers have more up to date Software or Firmware than 4 Aug 2021 ... or more up to date maps than 14.41.46.420.001?

Hi,

Mine's an Aus delivered MY22, build Jan 22.

Software, firmware & map appear the same, however navigation is different.

Thanks so much for that. I just checked the Kia Navigation Updater App for Australia - and it looks like they have updated the app AND put new software up for us to download.

A week ago, the software that I downloaded from there was CK_22.AUS.S5W_L.001.001.210709 so 9 July 2021 - which was older than mine (mine ends in 210804 so mine is more up to date at 4 Aug 2021) ... BUT, when I checked this morning I can see that there is new software with CK_PE.AUS.S5W_L.001.001.210913 ... so more up to date than mine (new software is 13 September). I'm hopeful that this will do a few things.

1. Give me the beautiful new climate control screens
2. Update the navigation app to the same version as yours
3. Resolve a new issue that has popped up recently for me and some other MY22 owners (QI charger stops working - and the option to turn it on/off in the CONVENIENCE section of the setup menu has disappeared). Apparently some have found that unplugging and replugging the fuse solves this one - but some (like me) it has not worked and so the next option that has worked for one owner was a software update. Here's hoping.

Map version in the update is AUS.14.41.44.490.001
