I’m pretty new to tuning so mainly looking to get some perspective/thoughts/advice on these logs. I’ve only tried running Map 1 so far.

All current mods listed in signature, installing the BMS fuel-it kit and connecting the jb4 fuel wires tonight. Running 91 octane from Shell (no higher than 91 in my state, planning on running E20-30 once the kit’s installed)

Thanks!

There's something wrong, and fuel wires won't help (still install them). The timing is very bad. I have a hard time believing HKS plugs running just map1 with 91 octane it would show that much timing deviation. Who put the plugs in? Did they put them in out of the box or are they gapped properly?
The only other explanation would be the high IAT temps. 150 deg going into a log isn't optimal but still doesn't explain that much timing being pulled.

I had my Kia service center put the plugs in right out of the box and requested for them to be gapped at 0.022. I also live in Arizona where it gets up to 120 degrees. Would this have anything to do with the high IAT temps and would an aftermarket intercooler lessen this problem?? Thank you for your response!!

Doubt they gapped your plugs. Always gap your own plugs.

I'll check them out when my car gets out of the shop and post new logs- thank you for getting back to me!

Im not a log expert but I recently email my first run to Terry and he said everything checked out. Pretty much i did the same thing. Ran on Map 1 with only 91 octane available. HKS plugs gapped to .022. If you happen want to compare it to mines or if anyone else wants to dive in and give a look. Hope this helps.

any chance you could give a tip or explanation on how to take a proper log?

I honestly just looked on this forum. The advice that was recommended is be around 40-50 mph and then just slam the pedal all the way down to about 80-85 mph. So my example is I did it on a on-ramp from 40-80. Then the second one I was on the freeway was able to slow to about 50 and floored it again to like 85.

This log is a waste of time. This is just you driving around. Ya gotta go WOT thru a couple gears. Set your JB4 to automatically log at 75% throttle so when you punch it thru a couple 3 gears you get a log.

No! You want to go WOT from 3rd gear thru 4th into 5th. WOT the whole way so you need lots of safe space you’ll get going very fast!! That makes for a log someone can advise on.

WILL DO THIS LATER TODAY!!

Made another attempt at this living in So Cal clear stretch of road and no cops is hard come buy at times. Curious what others think of this log. Tested Map 1 and 2 with only 91 octane available near me.

That doesn’t look very good at all. It’s not that great of a log to start with. But when you do have your foot into it you’re pull way to much timing. Likely octane issues. Do have your plugs gaps correctly at .022?

Yeah the plugs are gapped at .022 using the HKS plugs. With only 91 available out here.

You might have a bad batch of 91. Try switching up to a premium brand if you don’t use it already. Maybe try a shot of Boostane in your fuel.

Usually I go to Costco but this last time I filled up was actually Chevron. So I’ll fill up with Costco again later this week and post another log and see if anything changes.

Since you said that when you said the car is pull way too much timing what should be looking at on the log for that to see if it changes?

Studying this will help with your understanding.

Got access to ethanol? Mix with E85 if you so. Do map 1 for now. Map2 is too much. You might be faster than map2.

I would have to research the forums to see how much to add. There is a station somewhere just would have to google.
