Hey all, with 8k miles on the odometer, my GT is already starting to develop the vibration under heavy braking, so will be replacing the stock brake pads.

Car is a daily driver with some spirited driving, no track usage. I am looking for something that has a little more bite than stock that is as close to stock on noise and dust as possible.

I have had posi-quite on older cars with good results so was wondering which is the better pad for our cars.

I have the Stoptech. No complaints.

A thing other than stock is likely better than stock - for street driving.

I have centric pads and they have slightly less "bite" (less friction coefficient than OEM) but no vibrations and no noise and similar dust to OEM.

I used these

Both the StopTech and the Posi's are Centric pads. Do you by chance know what part number you have?

I was fairly descriptive.. (full part numbers, prices, pictures, comparison pics vs OEM)

My bad, guess my mind just auto-filtered that section out thinking it was an ad.

Ok, I saw that post when initially looking through stuff. Glad for the update, was wondering how those generics without the weights was working out.

Yeah... Sometimes they do look like that..

Kinda miss the good ol' days of a link showing up as blue text (or purple if you already clicked it).

To explain myself further, with respect to the friction coefficient.

If you are not familiar with brake pad friction codes - Understanding Disc Brake Pad Friction Edge Codes and Markings

The friction performance of pads intended for typical street temperatures is classified under SAE Standard J866, expressed as a two-letter code where the first letter designates the normal low-temperature (200 to 400 degrees F) friction performance, and the second letter the high-temperature (300-to-650 degrees F) friction performance. Higher letters in the alphabet indicate better friction potential than lower letters (for example, "E" is better than "D"). If the first letter is lower than the second letter, it means the pad works better at high temperatures and needs a warm-up to be fully effective; if the second letter is lower than the first, the pad may fade at high temperatures. The best street pads have good friction at both high and low temperatures (ideally, both letters would be the same or at least near the midpoint of the available letter-sequence, as in "FF").

D Over 0.15 up to 0.25
E Over 0.25 up to 0.35
F Over 0.35 up tp 0.45
G Over 0.45 up to 0.55
H Over 0.55
All my motorcycle brake pads have always been HH, but that's not common in the street car world (nor is it necessary)

The OEM rear pads on my Stinger were rated "FG" (F when cold and G when hot)

The Centric rear pads have less friction "FF" (consistently F through cold and hot)

The front pads had a similar OEM vs Centric friction rating, but I don't have those pictures.

I recently switched the OEM ones with PowerStop Z26 pads. I've used them on 3 different performance cars and never had any issues with stopping power or squeaking. The best part is that they are a low dust pad and very noticeable difference on the wheels.

I emailed PowerStop, they replied that the Z26 pads friction ratings are (GG). Cool for us.

Thanks for sharing.

I dream of a day where manufacturers make this simple information(tech specs) available directly on their product page rather than making potential customers have to research and email support for what should be essentially the first thing listed about a brake pad.

For automotive consumables:

Oil - very easy to find the specs that any oil does it does not comply with
SAE | ACEA | API | JASO | ILSAC | OEM approvals.

Tires - they have the UTQG code normally easy to find on websites, and useful for consumers to compare tires (better than nothing).

Brake pads - almost nothing listed that matters. They developed a reasonable spec/system (edge codes). But they usually fail to share that data with the consumer. Instead they usually share some blurb about how their brake pads stop smoother than sliding in unicorn diarrhea, and include an integrated virtual HEPA filter for reduced dust and clean rims, all while being quieter than fresh snow falling in a feild.

Yes I am quoting myself .... To complete this thought.

My OEM FRONT pads also had code FG

Ended up ordering Girodisk magic pads for the front, and posi-quiet for the rear.
When things will ship from covid shortages is anyone's guess.

Still torn on rotors, it can be difficult to get rotors turned here over the weekend. However cant seem to find any good options that are not $80+ ea outside of budget brand ones that would be inferior to stock.

Make sure you seat the brake pads properly, I have fella two piece rotors and they are amazing

I have the EBC variety 2-pc floating rotors, but it'll be a couple weeks before I can get those beauties on- I'm getting the Brembo front calipers powdercoated. I had seen the Fella's on Ebay and was super tempted when they offered 5% off bringing them down to $685-ish, then tax, so about $740. Decided on the EBC's for about $65 more from this one vendor, but they're $200 more from ALL of the others, IDK why, but I just went with it as I had a pending credit with KharTunerz...I noticed they raised the price $100 right after I placed my order with them.

Do your girodisk pads squeak like mine?
