I’ve had my new 2021 Stinger for 3 months, one week in, service had it for 3 1/2 of service. The dealer and corporate took that long to figure out the problem. End up being thermostat electrical wiring harness. Got a few oil changes out of them. 2 months later, car shuts down with an overheating message two blocks from dealer. Car is in service for a 1 1/2 weeks and was told one more week waiting for a fan. No loaner, no nothing. Corporate is involve because I feel that service sucks and why should I be out of my car for a month and a half for the 3 months I’ve owned it. I frustrated with two dealers service, their customer service and Kia customer care. No one seems to find these issues as important.
what can I do? What should Kia do?

Thanks

My arguement to corporate would be why am I paying for a vehicle I can't drive. This is assuming you're making payments, if you are I'd tell them that as long as you're making car payments you should have a car in your driveway. They need to either waive the monthly payments for the time the car isnt drivable or provide a rental.

have it lemon-replaced with another Stinger wtf? or get refunded for the months lost as NS_Stinger said...

Push for a replacement, backup plan would be to waive multiple months

They can and will absolutely pay your payments or give you a fair amount of money for being out of the vehicle. If more issues arise, I would look into the lemon law in your state.

Get rid of that car.

i feel your pain. that is like the story with my first stinger. thats why i got rid of it, made them give me a different one.
it took 2 months before Kia Customer Care ever got back to me-I had already got rid of the lemon and was in a new lease for a month!

shiz man, now im thinking-- when i take it back to service on the 15th to have a window motor replaced, thats all im going to make them do.
i had some other things on the list like -trunk rattle(giving them a second try to fix it)
-investigate the green screen camera signal not available

but now, i dont want them screwing anything else up, so yep, im thinking just do the window motor and give me back my car.

Yeah that's the thing... I love the Stinger... but am very cautious about bringing it to the Kia service center...

Until something major breaks under warranty, a Kia dealer will never have my Stinger in their possession. Already did the preventative brake pad replacement on my dime, rattle repair on my own, and electrical recall I found the part and installed myself (was easy with the latest drop-in fuse block). Oil changes at a local Genesis dealer. Already planning on getting the couple socket adapters I need to do the plugs myself.

Kia's service techs are already industry-consensus notoriously poor, add our unicorn vehicle to the mix and it's a recipe for a lot of nope.

can you use your prepaid oil changes at the Genesis dealer? do i have to go to Kia since it's a lease?

No on both accounts. The Genesis dealer supports the same drivetrain (G70) which is why I bring it there, $70+ tax for full synth change aint bad and it's in the family so tough to deny warranty coverage. You have the right to bring your car anywhere for out of pocket service and repairs, no one can make you service your car at a dealer. I do not get warranty coverage at the Genesis dealer, that's all.

The Genesis dealerships are just as comically backwards as the Kia dealerships and I will leave it at that. I can see now why my friends always preferred Lexus, BMW, MB, etc. just for the better service experience. lol

I haven't seen an independent genesis dealer around here. They're all attached/part of hyundai shops.

We only have the one in all of Vegas, but have 3 or 4 Kia dealerships.

WRXtoStingerGT, I'm hedging my bets that they'll have slightly better overall techs due to the cars being more expensive with more tech. Plus an upstart brand is trying to build a positive reputation. I won't be doing any serious work there anyway, just the oil changes.
