Hi everyone,

I don’t own a Stinger but am interested in buying one. Checked out this forum to see what kind of mods/upgrades y’all are doing to your cars and what kind of results you’re getting. I recently purchased a 2015 Lexus GS 350 for a great price, and it’s an amazing care that drives great but I’m looking for a bit more speeeed which is how I found myself here. I’m considering either:

1. Keeping the GS and just doing suspension/wheel replacements to improve handling (intake/exhaust/tune don’t do much on this car)
2. Trading in for a used Stinger GT1
3. Trading in for a new Stinger GT1

Would love to hear everyone’s experiences with the car and thoughts.

Best,
Austin

Welcome! Moving this out of the lounge and into the Stinger discussions.

Prices are extremely high right now, but the more new cars hit lots, the better it will get.

You could get a decent amount for your GS at the moment though, the downside is you will need to over pay for a Stinger.

Howdy. Good luck to you, finding your Stinger.

I'd say go for it for sure. I think you'll enjoy the additional sportiness over your Lexus.

There are deals to be found. I was able to get a low mileage kia certified lease return GT AWD for 32,500 last month . Which is crazy because the same dealer now has a Premium base model with 10k more miles for 36,000 and a GT2 for 44,000 . But they are out there. I waited for almost 2 years to buy one. Which in reality was not the best 2 years to wait and buy a car.

Had 350 IS 2015. Traded it in for my Stinger and then some.

Best decision ever.

Got a good price for my GS350. I think the Stinger is a bit out of my price range, looking at Q50s and 335is… someone convince me to go for the Stinger instead

I'm coming out of a GS myself and absolutely loved the car! Wheel.. and especially tire upgrades go a long way on them.
One thing to keep note is quality... the Stinger is NOT build like a GS, just keep that in mind. The other thing is I would recommend trading in for a GT2. Prices are reasonable and it's hard giving up some of the creature comforts in the Lexus. You don't want your new vehicle to feel like a downgrade in any way.

Either way, GS or Stinger.. fantastic car.

Q50 - nice, but outdated and the Maxima has a nicer interior for less $$
335i - Yawn, you are better off getting another GS

Keep shopping and look farther away or get a broker to do the work for you, they aren't expensive and pay for themselves...

just my $0.02 - best of luck in the hunt

Hmm why do you say that about the beemers? Granted, stock they are pretty similar but one of the reasons I want to sell the GS is because of its lack of tunability, which the BMWs have lots of.

Tunability ok, but the 335i is dull and not engaging to drive, (also dull looking) an S4 would be a better option but still dull to look at... IMHO

Do you need 4 doors?

I prefer the look of sedans, but would be open to suggestions on 2 door cars as well.

If you want a good looking 2 door. Q60 is out there. But as Redcal mentioned... the technology in terrible in Infiniti.

Terms of tunability, its pretty good.

I switched over from a fully modded 335i M-Sport with M Brakes to a Gt1 and never looked back. The BMW is slower, less practical, and costs way more money in the long run. However, the BMW suspension ( I was running coilovers, M3 control arms, etc) was much more dialed in and felt way sportier than the stock Stinger as expected. Luckily we carry a ton of parts here at www.K8StingerStore.com to help get the Stinger suspension dialed in which will be done during the next phase our shop car will go through.

OK, lets make it a group project ;) -- what are your "must haves" or never touch that with a 10 foot pole? (features or brands)

We know you want more power / quicker than your GS350, but that leaves you lots of options Budget? (guessing around $45K)

2 door - I'd look @ Supra, & the New Z

Haha appreciate all the help and advice. Supra?! I wish man. Budget closer to $35k, $40 would be stretching it. I know I said 335i's earlier but I want to stay away from European brands and stick to Asian or American to keep maintenance costs down. Prefer RWD, not too concerned about super luxury features, I'm good with leather seats and decent quality interior. Power doesn't have to be stock, as I do want to get into tuning and modding my car, thus so far I've been looking at mostly used V6 turbos.

Edit: Since I want to be modding my car aftermarket support is really important to me, which it seems like the Stinger has a lot of.

Id be a abit more patient on stinger deals. Or pull the trigger on the q60 3.0t. Not much difference between red sport and 3.0t when you tune it aside from breaks iirc.

q60s are fairly affordable now and huge aftermarket support.

But again, I would wait possibly end of the year for stinger deals.

If you dont need to seat 3 adults, then V8 Camaro is a great car. Look for the LT1 trim, which is the entry level V8 car. All it needs are bigger aftermarket rear wheels/tires and you'll be VERY fast stock. The interior is Fisher Price, but I dunno how much interior amenities matter to you.

Entry level Mustang V8 is a good choice as well.
