I have an odd question. I purchased a 2019 GT1 stinger new. I then picked up a very slightly used 2018 GT2 that had 3K miles on it. The 2019 seems like it has a much louder sound system. It's got more punch. I'm just wondering does anyone know if there was an upgrade between those two years or could it be that something is wrong in the 2018

I have a 2019 GT2 with HK system. Not sure about the sound question but wanted to say Kudos to you for getting 2 stingers. I thought about doing this. Keeping one FBO and the other straight stock.

I definitely would not have two other than the dealer I bought the 2019 red GT1 from was giving away a 2018 black GT2 with 3K miles on it and I won. Not that it was free ended up costing me 14K in taxes.
My wife was originally thinking we should trade it in but I pointed out that they are going make money on you for the trade in and on the new car so maybe you should try driving this car first and of course when she did we ended up keeping it because coming from her 2010 ford escape a stinger is f'ing awesome.
Anyway so I get stuck with the black car because my wife doesn't like black cars.
I just attributed the difference in the sound system to the volume being more sensitive on the 2019. Meaning I have to turn the sound up more but it's really same, but I'm not so sure about that anymore.
I'll do some research this weekend check each of the speakers. Who knows what they did to it in the first 3K miles. Sales people probably beating the f out the car is what goes through my pessimistic mind.

Good deal for only 14k in taxes. You could turn and around and sell to make money but it seems like you need both for daily drivers. What a upgrade from the 2010 Ford Escape! You are probably right about the dealers beating up (or those test driving it) on the car. I think similarly to you. I only own 1 Stinger but thought if they discontinued the Stinger having a Stock one with little miles could be worth it down the road. I plan on always keeping my current Stinger. At some point it won’t be my daily driver and will be brought out occasionally as the fun car.
So al the speakers work and the fuses including the amp fuses in the trunk are all fine. The issue is comparing the two sound systems the 2019 just sounds to me like it's got twice the amp as the 2018. Kind of expected the explanation to be that Kia had boosted the power between the two years.
If you're running into the same thing I experienced when I got my early model 2019 GT2, my front driver side woofer was wired out of phase and I had to pull the door panel off to switch the 2 wires in the connector going to the speaker.
You can test it out by playing a 70hz-100hz steady tone at a moderate volume from youtube or an app, then start changing the the balance in the audio settings to all 4 corners of the car. What I noticed was that when I went from Front Left -> Front Right or Front Left -> Rear Left the bass would fall off sharply when any other speaker was playing at the same volume as the Front Left.

Yes, I unplugged the connector and just used a mini flat head screwdriver to push deep enough into the backside of the connector to slide the the 2 pins out and swapped the 2 positions. That way it was just like factory and I didn't need to strip or cut any wires or anything like that.
Looks like someone else ran into the same thing when modifying their tweeters in the door in this thread(Can't post links yet lol): Forums > Kia Stinger Technical Discussion > Kia Stinger How To's and Do It Yourself >Stinger Harman Kardon speakers simple mod to improve sound

For example - on the new car - if listening at volume level 15 reslts in xx db's of actual SPL
Can the same sound pressure level be achieved by turning the volume number higher on the older car? - or does it max out before attaining the SPL levels achievable by the newer car?

I always thought it was gain level meaning turning up the volume in the 2018 would give the same results as the lower volume level in the 2019 but I’ve come to realize that it doesn’t sound as good. Never gets the same base punch like it’s got lower wattage amp or broken sub but when I put a piece of paper over the subs it moved and the fuse on the amp is not blown
they should be identical.
You have the same settings on each? Quantum Logix or the ClariFi features etc.
What about software versions? Are they both updated with the latest map software - which includes the audio system.
