Chicago area cruise 8/28 or 9/11 rain date

Total distance: ~250 miles roundtrip

Pace: Slow in the straights, spirited in the corners. I'm still feeling out the car so won't be going too fast in the corners. More of comfortable athletic pace.

Lunch: Arthur's Deli, Dixon IL

Requirements: Be fueled (both you and car) and ready to go. I'd like to be on the road by 0815. We should be back by about 1400-1500 or so.

We'll take the scenic route out to Rockford then Byron. Stop by the power station (Byron) for photos, then take some more technical/scenic routes to Dixon.

We'll stop every hour or so. All breaks are at gas stations. Next stop after Marengo is Belvidere.

Don't really need to create a route for this as I've done this loop countless times with both the bikes and cars over the years.

What a long day. ~525 miles door to door. Most roads between Madison and the Mississippi River were heavenly. Overall mpg, 29.75 mpg (miles/gallons). Must not have been flogging it hard enough.

Cr-D was like a [wet] dream. Recently repaved, lots and lots sweepers (35-40 mph recommended). Literally no traffic to get in the way. I'll pull some clips off the dash cam later.

Nice! I had to go from Plainfield, IL to LaCrosse, WI 2 weeks ago for work. I decided to take the scenic route and went from Plainfield to Oregon, to Galena, and then north up through the Driftless Region and finally along the Mississippi. I really wanna take my motorcycle through there again next, but the Stinger was a heckuva lot of fun!
