Exhaust Tips

Not yet. I'm actually looking to add glasspacks because I'm not loving the sound with the straight pipes. I have my eye on a few different tips, but I may just follow suit and go with the popular Akrapvic replicas
You get it all together? Or at least ordered?

If you go with replicas personally id go thru ebay. Just from all the issues people have at random with alexipress. Just my opinion, either way you may still end up waiting 3 weeks for tips. What is your end goal sound wise?

I like the note I get with the muffler delete but it's just too loud and the family hates it. I figured throwing some glasspacks on there would dampen the dB levels, get the tips and move the noise out of the cabin. I initially wanted to go with a magnaflow exhaust system, but wanted to try the muffler delete because so many people have liked it. I don't hate the cold start sound but giving it gas at certain RPMs sounds pretty trash.

Ahh makes sense. And yea the family thing i understand completely. I didn't mind the drone i had but was always concerned about my lil one in the back seat, so i broke down and put tips on. Definitely made a difference. Why not just extend the pipes out thru the tips until you find exactly what you want. Something like this maybe....

Hey at that length you could just slap the glass pack at the end haha

Ran across these the other day. Kinda pricy, but an interesting option.

Looks to be the same set up as the stock ones though. Without clamping a tip to the actual muffler to direct out the back drone is still possible.
Dont get me wrong, they are good looking. For the cash and possible drone issues still doesn't seem worth it to me.

Just doing some pre-purchase research here - for an MBRP SS cat-back, tips that have 63mm inlet are needed, correct? The AliExpress ones that lots of people seem to be going with have a Size A (oval measurements are 75mm x 105mm) and a Size B (oval measurements are 95mm x 115mm) ... I assume by the "63mm x 105mm" that's mentioned in here a lot, I'd want the Size A? But, on AliExpress it says they won't fit? Or should I just ignore that ...

Also, I've been getting quotes from some local places for the exhaust + installation, and have asked what they suggest for aftermarket tips ... only one response so far - "Not sure what tips would work on this kit because the factory tips are attached to the rear bumper cover." - can someone shed some light on that for me?

Yes size A with 63mm inlet. Exactly what I ordered.

The factory exhaust tips are not connected to the exhaust, they are connected to the "diffuser". You can get aftermarket tips that will connect to an aftermarket exhaust, you just have to make sure you get the right size (pipe diameter, tip diameter, length, oval or round).

Looking at the same tips as Licorice, from AliExpress. I've never bought from AliExpress before, I understand it's international shipping but the cost to ship is really weird...

For 1 tip the ship cost is $9.98
For 2 tips the ship cost is $18.43 (+ $8.45)
For 3 tips the ship cost is $49.99 (+ $40.01)
For 4 tips the ship cost is $64.14 (+ $54.16)

I can save $37 on shipping by simply placing TWO orders (2 tips each order), I have no idea if there are downstream affects of that...like getting the orders weeks apart even if my orders were placed minutes apart.

worse than that is if they don't match. I didn't bother doing the math, just ordered all four at the same time and paid the $64 or whatever. They are decent tips. One note, I have the Borla, and the tips were a bit too tight to get on the pipes, so my mechanic had to use a stretcher thingy to open them up just slightly, then all was well. Don't know if anybody with MBRP has experienced this.

Installed the Akrapovic tips today! Really not much to shave off (top and bottom) of the stock bumper outlets. After install you do not see the shaved areas at all. I used a dremel cutting blade, pushed forward and back to shave the plastic, not cut. The dremel was VERY precise!!! You have to remove the mufflers to remove the OEM stainless tips, then make sure the tips can fit through the exhaust holes correctly, reinstall the mufflers and fit the Akrapovic tips. The look is so much better IMO.

Just out of interest, do you notice any change to the exhaust note inside the cabin now ?

Meaning now that there's no gap between the exhaust system tips and the actual tips.

63mm inlet diameter should fit the MBRP, barring quality control (which may be an actual hurdle considering where we're buying from).

I actually already bought tips from Amazon. 2.5" inlet and 3.5" outlet (63mm x 89mm). They slide over the MBRP ends like a glove ready to be clamped or welded, but the longest end (top-to-bottom) is closer to 92mm. That 3mm difference is enough for these tips to touch both the top and bottom of the bumper holes...rather snugly.

Love how these tips look but I really don't want to trim the bumper (necessary to avoid heat transfer melting the plastic).

Does anyone know what's the correct size of the exhaust tips for Ark Grip Exhaust?

I don’t think they’re centered enough in the opening for tips to fit right. They use that generic y-pipe so it fits ‘close enough’ with the bumper tips.

That’s my major complaint with this exhaust.

I have done that and one of the sets arrived 6 weeks later than the other set. But it did save me quite a bit on shipping

You're absolutely right, it's too close to the bumper tips and the rattle is so annoying since it hits the bumper tips.

Seem to be having an issue with one of my exhaust tips. Has anyone else had a melting issue like this. Seems like the inner exhaust tips on both sides deal with much more heat, as both are discoloured compared to the outside tips.

My one tip on passenger side is melting. Been on car for about a year and a half. Just noticed it this weekend. Wondering if it was due to a couple brake pad break-in procedures I did, or a long 600km trip .
