Do GTs have launch control? '21 GT and I've tried twice now but doesn't seem like anything's happening. Sport mode, turn off traction control, depress brake, pin throttle but no light came on.
Sport mode, Press and HOLD traction control button until traction AND stability is off, press brake and fully press and HOLD the accelerator until it says launch control enabled (I believe thats the wording it uses) then release the brake and hold on!

Yup..it will ding once for traction control then a second or two later it will ding again showing traction AND stability control off. Mash the brake then the gas. RPMs will climb to 2200-2300. it will ding again announcing launch control is ready then release the brake. I haven't done it in more than a year but that's what I remember.

Got almost 30K on my 2019 GT.
Never used launch. Don’t care if they designed the car to endure this torture. Maybe I am old school. It just feels wrong on so many levels to hold down the brake and floor of the car at the same time! LOL - I just can’t bring myself to do that to my baby. Maybe it’s because the only time I lost a stoplight battle was with a C-63 Benz. I can’t justify doing it.
Just happened to find this..
Maybe if I didn’t have tools in the back with a full gas tank, and had a “chip”…
I only have used launch control once and it really isn't worth the extra strain on the vehicle in my opinion. Just floor it off the line and enjoy yourself. No point potentially wearing out items fast.

Agreed. I think I've done it twice in the 2.5 years I've had the car and both times I thought "This can't be good". Plus I had to gather my phone and all the coins that came flying outta my pockets and were strewn all over the back seat lol

Sounds complicated....... probably why I haven't done it yet. Would have to look it up on the phone to even know how to do it. I'll just stick with the mash the gas method.
Omg, I literally have over 100 LC's. Come on, they built it into the car! You're not breaking anything! It doesn't even build boost, just rpms. Its drive by wire so the old school thought process doesn't apply. Pedal and throttle are not linear. The car won't even fully open the throttle until 20 mph. Quite honestly, factory LC is about the weakest thing in production, Kia isn't going to put something in their car that they will have to warranty in the future, it's harmless.
It even protects itself: once the trans fluid is too hot, it won't launch and just gets limpier and wimpier; of course, by that point, you've ignored the warnings in the manual which instruct us to not do too many launches too close together.

Yes but in addition to the steps above you need to hold the traction control button for a few seconds until stability control also disengages. The warning light will let you know its off. Also be aware that once you let off throttle after launch, all aids are now off so very lively rear end. Hope this helps

Hmm, you may have beat him had you used launch control. C63s are notorious for their poor off-the-line traction. I've seen C43s demolish them from a dig. Of course the C63 would eventually pass you by.
I feel like it launches quicker if you put it in launch control mode but don't push the brake too firmly and then the second I hear the wheels spin a bit I let off and go. Doing the full launch control routine makes the car bog for a sec.
Wish I had one of those draggy things to see if what I think is a quicker launch actually is a quicker
