I have a 2022 stinger GT1. I know I have a 9 speaker system and it’s not the harmon kardon in the GT2. Does anyone one know the head unit and speaker brand? I mean it sounds good, but it can be better! Last years GT1 had the 15 speaker Harmon kardon system,I feel cheated!

I mean, I know I can change out and add speaker, but if the head unit is crap it won’t make a lot of difference.

You had to know that you weren't getting the HK, am I right? How can you feel "cheated"? Disappointed, sure, after the fact. I've compared the bass output in both systems recently (thanks, @ryno5514) and the nine speaker "factory bass" is good: just not quite as good as the HK. Rather than "cheaper sound", all the nine speaker system lacks, I think, is a more granular dispersal of the sound. But, of course, as you ask, a comparison of head unit specs would tell an empirical opinion (as opposed to a subjective one).

Auto makers tend to conceal details on the stock head units, similar to how Bose keeps the details unpublished. I ended up swapping out the tweeters and cutting some of the high frequencies from the dash/center speaker. The head unit itself seems capable of pushing the speakers fine, but the speakers themselves aren't particularly great. Depending on what you listen to, some people find the subs lacking but for rock music they're fine. Since the battery and amp are in the trunk, it's easy access for modding/upgrading.

I'm of the opinion that if you're more than even a noob audiophile you're going to be disappointed with the factory audio in nearly any car. That said upgrading the speakers helped and I'm confident that changing to a larger/better subwoofer will go a long way in the Stinger.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

For me the sound difference is negligible. For audio heads there's definitely a difference.
