3.3TT Going through spark plugs

Spend the money? Oh no. You are paying someone to work on your plugs aren't you?

Not that mechanical incline. The engine is so tight that I don’t even want to bother. Had a buddy do it but he didn’t know about the gapping and I had forgot to inform. I’ve done everything thing else myself like catch can, tune, steering wheel, intercooler snorkels. Got a good deal from a friends mechanic for the install. He works on cars like this.

Funny, you do all those mods yet you draw the line at changing plugs, which is probably easier than anything else on your list. Oh well.

Intercooler takes 4x the amount of time as plugs. A 1/4 inch with a swivel and extension you can get the plugs done in an hour

The plugs come with a "default" gap. Not necessarily for a specific vehicle.

Yea ik they come gapped to run with the car just as but better to spend the money and get them gapped to the recommended spec and installed again.
Spend what money to get them gapped. Don’t tell us you actually pay someone to gap spark plugs for you. Bad enough paying someone to put them in.

No just paying for the install. Gapping is free. Don’t have anyone to lend me a hand to do it myself or someone that knows for sure what they’re doing.

Watch the videos and read the spark plug thread. You can do it just take a couple hours or more and go through the steps nice, slow and methodical. The smile on your face afterwards.....”priceless”.
Or just use the a**hole theory. “If that a**hole can do it, SO CAN I”!!

Alright then I’ll give it a go. Appreciate it lol. I got tons of ridicule from going to pay so I shall use the a**hole theory.

I wouldn’t pay someone to gap my plugs. They can easily damage the plugs from closing and opening the gap. They even might use the wrong gapping tool for it.

I will just throw in "2 cents" worth......won't disagree with views of others but if you don't have a comfort level that is on par with some of the more experienced guys, theN find a "reputable" shop and have it done. Downside to that is that if something needs replacement or adjustment, you will be out of pocket more money.

If this is your daily driver/only vehicle, then the outcome of something being done incorrectly will be a lot worse than if this were your "weekend warrior" vehicle.....LOL...

Doing my own work on my Stinger (when i had one...), was not a big deal as i had a level of comfort working on the car and PLUS, it helped that it was a 2.0 so things like plugs/plug gap were a snap!!!! Always kept an extra set of plugs on hand in case I jacked one up......

HTH

To the original question, I too have gone through two sets of Densos in the same amount of miles. I gapped them to .022 using feelers and a gapping tool similar to what BMS sells I just switched to HKS and I had the best timing in my logs since purchasing the car... Except now I'm having timing issues on cylinder 3. The other 5 cylinders are spot on though which is better than I ever had with the Densos. Fingers crossed my cylinder 3 issue is a quick fix and I can get back to 100% soon.

EDIT: I replaced my Denso plugs due to bad timing in my logs, but never had a misfire or CEL.

Where are people buying HKS these days? I've had my Densos for maybe ~5-6K, but they were used by someone else before, so I'm probably getting close to needing new plugs.

I got mine from K8StingerStore. Good price, fast shipping, excellent customer service. It's where I buy most of my parts. You could also check out khartunerz.

Side note, I wouldn't bother changing them unless you don't like what you're seeing in your logs. I'll run my HKS plugs for much longer than my Densos if my timing stays clean. That's just my personal opinion.

got almost 10k out of a set of HKS plugs but never went past map 2 and only ran 93 in the tank. Believe it or not, I purchased two sets(liked to keep a spare set just in case) from Amazon of all places. They usually had at least qty. 4 in stock and depending upon when ordered, would have them in less than a week (prime member of course....)

Almost 10k before you had to replace them or you're at about 10k and still going?

Almost 10K before I took them out and put in a fresh set of stock plugs. Also removed jb4 (will put it up for sell as no longer can use it....)

Traded the Stinger.....
