Good Surprise Surprise - Buy Offer on Vroom

I'm an Auto broker and , yes , used market is ridiculous!! Example, I leased a client a new 2018 Tundra Platinum (lease was based on $49500 sell/$51740 msrp), just took it back in off lease with 33k and resold it for $48000. 3 years old and 33k lost only $1500.. I have about 10 more examples. Trucks and SUV's (especially 4Runners) are hottest by far.

I've got the 2020 base GT trim but with the Indigo package.. 14k miles on it though... well.. now that i've hit a tire and going through insurance to get it repaired i guess it won't be worth this much anymore :( Doesn't matter, nothing i would want to replace this with yet... Still crazy.. since this is more than the OTD price when purchased new

yea.. i can only imagine the toyota truck/suv market.. they've always been crazy used though.. why we ended up with a hummer h3 over a 4runner...

They're offering ~3.5K above buyout after 2 years on my GT1. Problem is - I have no idea what I'd get instead, and, outside of a few annoyances, have nothing anywhere close to the price range that I would rather have. Sure, I'd rather have an RS5, but not for the prices compared to a ~$33K buyout.. I don't need to be the fastest guy on the street / track, just need to have a bit of fun..

I'd be curious to know if you guys actually get these prices from them or if it's a bait and switch sort of thing where when you reach out you get all kinds of excuses why the purchase price will be lower than these offers.

No its real, Ive had clients deal with them.. VROOM must somehow resell these...even at the high bids.

This is very tempting. Why did I start reading this thread? Oh yeah..I like surprises ;)

I'm going to sound really dumb but why? Is this due to supply shortage and inflation? Is there any downside to selling a Stinger now or waiting? Are Stingers becoming the next Supra's or E30's or Ford GT's?

Pretty sure it is due to the chip shortage causing there to be a need of used vehicles in lots to sell.

Ah okay! :D

So would it be wise to sell the Stinger for a profit and pick up a new car? Since new cars have their prices unchanged?

I thought the higher prices are also a result of huge inflation due to money being printed and given out?

I'm sure inflation does have a role but I don't think it's the current driver in spike on used car prices.. I think if you have a new car in mind and it is in stock and not affected by the shortage and has good incentives and no markups due to the shortage, it could be a win win.. however it also could end up with selling the car for a good amount but not being able to get into what you want either .. gamble for sure.

Plenty of factors. COVID, printing more money, stimulus checks, monthly stimulus, and the steel shortage going on at the moment; can't produce new trucks. Look at your local Chevy dealer. You'll see a lot of vacancies where new trucks would sell.

I'm thinking it's a no-brainer though. Even Corvette's don't sell like this after a couple years. Yes, they are going up with all the other used cars but, in normal times, this isn't the case. I've had a Vette and l almost broke even with it. And now, I have the ability to make money on a car I've had for a year. That's Bugatti talk...lol

Not sure how they choose to offer what but this is almost a slap in the face based on what’s out there and the options on my ride.

How many miles.
I had a dealer local with a certified GT2 in Hi Chroma offer me heads up swap. That GT2 had 13300 miles and was CPO AWD

Are you guys putting that you have a loan on it and that there are no modifications done when going through the questions?

I just got offered $57,200 for a 2018 GT-LINE I don’t own..
