I keep finances to myself but we are all in the same community.

Paid $35.9k for my GT RWD. Vroom just offered $39k. Am I stupid to not take the deal? I love the car but cars just don't hold value anymore. With the steel shortage going on, values of used cars are holding and even increasing.

I have a DD so I wouldn't be out any vehicle but would purchase another "fun car" eventually, time is with me. What do you think?

You're missing the biggest part of the puzzle here, how long have you had the car?

If you're already window shopping for something else and have been driving the car for a couple years and have had all your fun with it, that's definitely not a bad deal to walk away with such a small loss.

10 months with 5600 miles. They are offering me more than what I paid. There's no loss here.

Are you having any issues with the car? I've had a few persistent annoyances that have made me consider selling. And if I got an offer that gave me more than I paid, it would be a really strong consideration. However, even if I got my money back or more, I don't know what I'd find with rough equivalence for the same price, as I got a good amount of lease cash and did the buyout. I bought the car as intended commute + occasional family car but it's ended up that we use our minivan for family duty (duh) and I'm not putting the mileage on, for better or worse. The used prices have definitely gone up. My most recent quote was $5k more than it was toward the end of last year (though I'm not in the range of getting more than I paid for it) but I think anything I'd want to replace it with would involve putting more money, not sure if worth it for the limited mileage in my use. If I were considering something very different, more "dedicated fun car", it might be worth it? I've been pondering the new Supra...

Because you posted it I went and did another Vroom quote - wow, it's now less than $200 from buyout price. Hmm...

No issues with the car. It's my fun car so I only drive on weekends/nice days. I don't want to sell it but the market is too good to pass up. I'm torn with the decision but I do have a couple cars in mind afterwards: G80 Sport, A5/S5 Sportback, Q50 Red Sport, GC SRT to name a few.

Oh boy if this is just your fun car I'd have a hard time not selling and grabbing the S5 Sportback or the GC SRT, but both of those would be considerably more expensive than the Stinger is here in Canada. A GC Trackhawk is my dream (attainable) SUV.

The Trawkhawk is pretty special. I can't fork out that much at the moment with a little one on the way but I'd sign on the dotted line if I pushed for it. The S5 is probably what I'll go with. Not sure if I'll wait or pick one up soon after selling the Stinger. The market will come down at some point, just a matter of when.

Or you could just sell it and buy a new 2021 for that price and awd.

3 years later - that's pretty amazing
And just so you are all aware, this is the selling price to Vroom... This isn't a trade in. Trade in values are normally more than strictly selling to a dealership. I was expecting a bit more from the GT2 but still, that's an awful lot for 3 years old and them taking it off your hands with no collateral on your end.

That's a possibility. Could even get a 2019 or 2020 AWD but a higher trim level.

The S5 no question would be a better built car than the Stinger inside and out but it's actually slower than the Stinger just so you know. The RS5 sportback on the other hand is a total beast, definitely my favourite sportback.

S5 edges the Stinger in almost all parameters ever-so slightly. Pretty equal I'd say but the quality and build that you state is accurate.

I saw a comparison but it must have been prior to the 2020 S5 refresh, they must have tweaked the transmission or the drivetrain. Although the numbers on the GT2 look like AWD numbers versus RWD for 1/4mile.
