Popular or unpopular opinion? 2022 Stinger is ugly.

Dealership near me got a green GT1 and it looks horrendous to me:

• Wheels have too much going on (and would be super hard to clean)
• New tail lights on the green make it look like a car from 1994
• New drls don't look as good
• No longer comes with HK audio
• No longer comes with ventilated front seats
• Hate the big airbag logo on the passenger dash
• "Chrome" around the gauge cluster looks cheap
• Back passenger side bumper had terrible fitment by the rear fender

Overall, if this was the Stinger when I bought mine, I wouldn't have considered it.

It's clear they are trying to push buyers to the GT2 by decontenting the GT1. The GT1's new lights aren't as nice as the previous gen's, but the GT2's new lights are the best yet. TBH, I never loved the original wheels, but now I prefer them over the new design. I think we just need some time to get used to the new look (wheels, logo, rear lights).

I wouldn't call it ugly cuz then you are essentially saying that all Stinger's are ugly, since they "basically" look the same. Id say it's that the 2022 model has a few things that you don't like about them. I'd agree the wheels don't look good. My issue is exhaust tips, too big imo. Also not cool that the gt1 is "detuned" so to speak and that's coming from somebody that has a base gt.

I think the 2022 Stinger looks better than the 2018-2021 Stingers and this is coming from a (check my signature lol) 2020 Stinger owner. I also don't think it matters that much whether it's a base model Stinger or a fully loaded GT2 or a GTS or whatever. Someone can go and buy a base model 2.0 Stinger and put on aftermarket wheels, calipers, exhaust tips, aero, etc...

I like how there are new colors available for 2022 Stingers and I love how much larger the stock exhaust tips are. I also like how there are new wheels. I think having more and more options is always a plus.

Then again I feel like my taste for cars is always backwards. I found the 2018 IS350F I was cross-shopping with my Stinger (along with many other cars) to be better looking than my Stinger even though the Lexus is far more common and many people bash on the front grille.

They look like something that belongs on a super car. Or something that has a lot more power than what we have stock.

The wheels, tail lights, and exhaust tips are all much worse looking. There was no need or improvement; KIA nailed it with the Stinger on the first try.

Seen the new 2022 when I was getting the recalls done.
Seen it as the same color as my current, Panthera Metal.
agrees the wheels, taillights, and huge round tips are bad.
untill you see the tips in person and able to see no matter what angle looking at the tips, able to see how fake they are.
Also the round tips does not flow with the rear of the car. Oval flows better with the Stinger.
i do like the rear bottom reflectors being a longer, it would even look nicer to pair them with the aftermarket sequential led, which I have.
that 10” infotainment screen is nice too.

I did do some customizing to make it better in my eyes you are right. Maybe after some people start modifying the new ones I'll like then too you are right.

That being said it was more about being surprised how much they removed from the GT1 trim line and I think the sticker price remained similar? Any input on msrp price changes between a 2021 GT1 and a 2022 GT1? I'm just saying with so much removed and essentially just getting a larger screen you would hope the 2022 would be cheaper.

Haven't seen in person but I think I'll be disappointed in the rims. Seem more stylish for the new K5 instead of the Stinger. Not overly impressed with the current but I think they suit the car much better.
I still think the Niche Gemello would have been a great alternative for KIA, same weight as stock which is the only disappointing thing about them.

I have already said the greatest disappointment to me was the change in taillights. The stinger was defined on the road at night. For those within the KDM culture, the tailights were noticeable. You can tell what we were from a distance. It was redefined & different. I loved that!

Luckily, cars are like art. People pay top dollar for cars I think are hideous but to them, it's a show piece. Perhaps I am biased because I have an older model but the 2022 doesn't do it for me. The value held pretty well in these cars. I actually purchased my car for 3-5k less than current trade value. It's not enough for me to trade for the 2022. The bigger screen would be cool but I can't get passed the dodge style taillights & those rims would require immediate removal. Other than that, I am not mad at the car. I am happy Kia is trying. I am even happier that they went away from the early models. It's going to allow the 18-21 to be sought after thus raising the value even more.

Maybe Maserati when the lights are on but like you said, 20/200 vision. Perhaps I just have really dislike the dodge lights

Yeah and maybe it's me being an old guy now because I don't like the light bars on any car. Even seeing it on the new Porsches I'm thinking they're ugly. Haven't seen that type of tail light work on a car for me yet. Again maybe in years to come it'll grow on me?

Decontenting is one thing, and is completely unrelated to looks. With that said, Kia virtually destroyed the value proposition for the GT1 that it had before. The GT-Line is now where the value is probably highest due to the stronger available engine and that all the safety and convenience features are the same until you move up to the GT2.

Personally, I wanted a GT with a sunroof. That is essentially what I got. The only thing that bugs me is we don't get the 7in supervision cluster. However the fact that we have LTE and OTA mapping and navigation and I don't have to modify my exhaust and have funky wiring to get electronically controlled variable exhaust is a win in my book.

But as far as looks go, I don't understand the need for existing owners to keep bashing the new design. I'm greatly sorry that the taillights and exhaust tips bug you all, and I hope that at a meet up I can apologize enough to placate earlier model year owners.
