Hi all,

I just made a deal on a pearl white with red leather 2021 Stinger GT awd today. I had a 2020 Mustang GT that I just didn't enjoy and I think the new Stinger will be a better fit.

I pick it up next week. I'm really excited about it! I plan to lurk here to learn as much as possible and will contribute when I have something to add.

Mike

Lurk, but say hi once in a while, through posts. I'm sure you'll have ideas you'll want to run past everyone.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! :)

Back in the Fall I bought a 2020 Mustang GT base in velocity blue. I have owned 6 other Mustangs in the past but haven't had one in over 10 years (kids, other priorities).

I was SO excited to get the car and had planned to do a bunch of modifications as I viewed it as something of a blank canvas.

This vehicle was a 4th vehicle in my 2 driver household and was meant for fun for me during evenings and weekends. I pictured doing some track days and some autocrossing with it.

Once I really spent some time with it I felt like it drove "heavy" with very heavy weight to the steering and even with adjustable steering modes it didn't get better. It also felt huge outside for being so cramped inside. I found that my back was sore even after short trips and that I didn't really like the clutch either.

To be fair, the Coyote engine is fabulous and the car hauled arse, but I didn't get out of it feeling the joy I hoped for.

Carvana made me an offer well beyond what I paid for it new, so I cut it loose and have zero regrets about that.

I started looking for a performance sedan to replace it. I really like the VW Jetta GLI but the interior is very plasticky and the seats sit artificially high at the front making the seating position weird for me. I drove many other cars but also looked at both Audi A4 and S4 models and liked the size and performance of each.

I decided I just didn't trust the S4 for reliability and had landed on a 2020 A4 with the sport suspension and 19" wheels. Certified I could buy it at $40k.

I randomly saw a good review of a Forte GT and decided to go drive one. The nearest Kia dealership is one that i ran as GM about 15 years back and many of the current staff members were there with me back in the day.

They sent me out to drive the Forte and candidly its a bargain but not the car for me. The sales manager told me I should drive the Stinger GT. On paper I had ruled it out because of high curb weight but I figured I would drive it. I was at the Kia dealer convention in Las Vegas (running another Kia store at the time) when Kia showed the Stinger concept for the first time and I've always thought they were neat.

Long story long I drove the Stinger and was really impressed by the room, light steering and overall build quality. I wanted a GT as I had no need or wish for the extra weight of the glass roof or bigger sound system in the GT1 and GT2 cars.

I ended up buying the new GT for less than the certified A4 and I could not be happier with the choice. I'm a huge fan of the brand and look forward to some cars and coffees and track days with the car.

I intend to leave it mostly stock, and am searching for a second set of the 19s but with the Pilot Cup tires. I want to see some picks of cars with 50% and 70% tints as I would like light tinting all around except the windshield.

I know it's a long explanation but this gives you a little background on how I got here. I appreciate the warm welcome.

Here's a pic of the dealer imposed tinting (not sure exact % values). Nevada is probably more relaxed on tinting regulations, so you probably can't go as dark.

Let's go for a drive

As opposed to maximum tinting I'm looking to lightly tint. I want enough to cool the interior and be noticeable but not black.

Welcome. I read every word, as if I were a car guy (which I am not, at least not much :P).

Best color choice IMO. :)

Hey Loweguy,

Welcome to the Stinger forum and congrats on your new GT.

I think you will enjoy the Kia much more than the Ford, inside and outside.

With a few mods you will be zooming past your old car in luxury and comfort.

Feel free to reach out at any time if you have any questions, need suggestions, or if you would like a discount on your order.

Thanks for the explanation on the Mustang. Good reading.
