It looks like the 2022 Stinger 2.5L T will be getting at G4KR engine with GDI & MPI. MPI for low speeds and GDI for high speeds. This solves a few issues with GDI only engines such as LSPI and intake valve carbon buildup.

Pretty cool. I want a 2022 Stinger 2.5L Turbo RWD. I’ll get the Hi-Chroma red like I had on my 2018 GT2 AWD .

With mild tune and basic bolt ons it probably will be more powerful that stock 3.3

Dual Fuel Injection + Center Injection = GDI + MPI

Also looks like the 2.5L Turbo Stinger will get a water cooled intercooler for a cooler air charge!

Just search the page for "Smartstream G2.5 FR T-GDi" to see all the tech going into the new engine.

I'm stoked to get my new Stinger!

Might come close on torque, but doubtful it will make up the 65hp without significant upgrades. That would be 20+% gain with stock guts? Would the upgraded parts and tuning cost more than just getting the 3.3TT ?

A loaded GT-Line with some extra pep would certainly be a nice car though, and the 2.5T is definitely a more viable candidate for extra performance over the old 2.0T . The rest comes down to personal cost/benefit.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It's 0-60 is 5.2 seconds so exactly 1/2 a second slower than the V6. Also less weight in the front might make it feel more nimble.

I'm excited about the GDI & MPI combo - keeping the intake valves clean...

................problem is, by the time the 2.5 tunes start out gunning the 3.3's, Kia will give the "Scorpion" model 400HP just to keep the 3.3 owners happy....;)

Things no one ever says:

I want a smaller engine to save on weight.
Well I sold my 2018 Stinger GT2 AWD because it had slipping issues with the AT. Also 2 kids in college... Now one kid will be getting out soon and I'll be getting another Stinger. The V6 is fun and all, but I'm going for the 2.5L Turbo. Simple fact is it's about $12K cheaper and just 1/2 second slower but gets way better mileage. Also no staggered wheels/tires. Tires will be able to be rotated. Also what a PITA to have 2 sets of tires... Summer and All-Season Why they didn't just put the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S+ All-Season tires on from the factory is beyond me.

I do some travelling in my Stinger and the MPGs are much better... although I did get a 34MPG highway trip once in my GT2. :)
Plus the brakes on the GT2 were awful. I took it in for the pulsating issue about 4 times... They never got that straight.

I had my V6 TT and it was fun and all - but the 2.5L T will suit me just fine this time around.

As for the less weight up front - the handling will be better.

^ The 2.5T is supposed to be a peach of a 4-banger; a bit surprised we haven't seen any reviews on it yet.

I think that 2.5 will kill a lot of 3.3 potential sales. It also forces kia to put something with 400+hp into top model.

MY MAN!!!!

I have put my local dealer on notice to give me a call when they get the first 2.5 in. They have a 22 GT2 but I told them I want to see what that new 4cyl will do.

My response from yesterday.........

I like the rear tail lights on the Stinger - how they go all the way across. I dreamed of that with my 2018... Now it's there! Also the word Stinger written big and bold across the rear. I like that too. The new KIA badge looks cool I guess but I had no issues with the old KIA badge. Kia / Hyundai are kicking ass lately and I'm will be proud to own another Kia.

BTW - Have you seen the new Hyundai Santa Cruz? Very cool! Optional engine is the same 2.5L Turbo but detuned to 275HP with 310Lb/ft torque.

Yes - the acceleration of the GT2 AWD is awesome - but I really like the cruising and the functionality of the Stinger more than just the power. I don't like paying for tires all the time... Costco put on my all season tires but no warranty - because no rotating...

The looks of the Stinger has me under it's spell too.

I will miss the 360 deg camera on the new GT2s - which wasn't around in 2018... I'd love that option on the 2.5L.

The manager of my branch told me he was in Florida over the weekend and spoke with a girl who has a 2.5L Stinger. She said she had owned a Stinger GT and she prefers the new GT-Line version. She said it doesn't feel much different in acceleration and she prefers the way it handles over the V6.

BTW - I officially put in my request for my Stinger at my dealership. To get my specific combo may take a while. Ceramic Silver with red interior - GT-Line - RWD...

That new fuel setup likely means more fuel for the 2.5T than a 3.3T will ever get. Eventually those port injectors could be swapped for larger ones and paired with a big turbo. A 2.5T like that could be faster than the fastest 3.3Ts.

I can’t wait to see one and test drive it.

Why would a 2.5l handle better than a 3.3l?
