Ok, so the Stinger has been around for a little bit now. So why has no one made a proper aftermarket hood that at least has some sort of heat extraction? With all the horrible "it has fake hood scoops" talk that went around, I'd think a company might see an opportunity to make a few bucks.

The hood doesn't bother me that much, I was just wondering with all the stuff that's already available front splitters/rear diffuser/carbon fiber hoods. Why has nobody made a nice clean hood that follows the lines of the car that also has functional heat extraction? These cars could benefit from a little bit of heat escaping from under the hood I think.

I just got the Seibon OE style hood. The vents are 100% real & it's lines are perfect. It was put on yesterday & I was surprised at how precise the lines were & it didn't sink any. Incredibly well made. It can be painted too, if you want.

That looks nice! Would you mind taking couple of pictures of other side of the hood. Very interested on how these vents function.

I've never heard of such a hood, would like to see more pics.

From other posts, the siebon has actual vents. But the channel under goes directly towards the front to drain water with no actual heat extraction.

so to those that don’t know, yes... it’s real.

but still fake.

if you remove the channel/cut it, then it might work functionally, but where it potentially dumps water, unsure.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The better solution is someone who has 3d modeling/printing makes a replacement that has a slide to reveal/seal up the vent holes.

yes. Manual. Yes. You could forget.

Or. maybe even add a spring/trapdoor that is electronic/relay controlled to a switch.

In Korea, there is an aftermarket mod that uses magnets to attach catch pans under the REAL hood vents, for when you wash the car or it is raining; drain hoses move to the front just behind the radiator and allow any water to drop out of the way there. When it isn't raining, you just pop the catch pans off and store them: then the vents are fully functioning heat dispersal openings.

There are other aftermarket hoods that have openings. I believe that these have mesh screens: I have no idea where water goes, hah!

Seems to me that the only time someone would need heat extraction is when doing back to back runs. Why not just take the hood off? Regulations?

It looks like both links go to the same hood.

The hoods look really nice, but I don't want to pay $1000 to get it color matched.

The links are updated correctly now, thank you for letting me know. I totally understand not wanting to pay that much for color matching paint. Carbon fiber by itself looks amazing on every Stinger however, if carbon fiber is not your style, I am sure you could have it wrapped for significantly less than $1000.

Yeah, not a fan of carbon fiber either. I mean, it looks cool but on a daily driver stock car it's kinda overkill. Plus, these have vents but do they have proper drainage?

What is inside the functional hood vents? Where does water go?

"Hood pins are required". What does this mean?

regarding the OEM siebon

Daniel. We defended you pretty good the other day. So I’m not going to say you are Intentionally misleading folks.

but I’ve seen pics of the underside of this hood. The vents are not truly functional unless you cut the channels underneath (which then would allow water to flow where you potentially don’t want it). They drain to the front without allowing ANY heat to escape.

Prove me wrong with pics if they (siebon) changed the design.

There are rain ducts built into both hoods to ensure that all water and snow are dissipated appropriately and away from the engine bay.

Hood pins are required to safely attach the hood to the car so that it does not fly off at high speeds.

Many people opt out of hood pins and never have an issue.

The Seibon Carbon Fiber Hoods are lighter than the OEM hood and therefore is unable to use the factory hood struts.

I appreciate the honesty. As far as I was told from Seibon, they are fully functional. I will have to double-check on this for you and see if I can get more information ASASP. This is the first time I have heard that this was the case. I definitely do not have any intention to mislead anyone and I want to make sure we are promoting products to the community properly.

Thanks for the idea. Never thought of wrapping...
