lmfao first they're going to kill off the Stinger then they change their minds to make the Stinger electric... idk... I mean I really don't wanna see all the fun cars go to full electric... I'm going to miss the rumble...

Btw I love some of those concept drawings! Very attractive and aggressive! :D

Check this out:

Huge respect for the Korean brands now! They're really stepping it up! :D

18 minutes to full charge, but with a 300 miles or less range, is not going to cut it, still, for road trip capability. And then there's the infrastructure of charging stations. Then there's the "green" argument: which disposing of batteries and mining the materials for them argue against, etc. The "Stinger" is a retro concept car, the "Gran Turismo redefined". An EV does not fit into that at all: it would be more like the Gran Turismo conceived afresh. If grand touring means turning your seat to face the rear passengers and being carried along, then the "driving" experience is gone for good.

Dinosaur !

I just hate seeing how all these countries all over the world are pushing to ban fossil fuels and getting rid of combustion based vehicles... I feel like I was born too late... Probably in ten years once the warranty expires on my Stinger it will be impossible to buy another fun car... what a shame...

EVs can be fun too. Some are ridiculously quick.

We're looking at a steep decline in ICE powered passenger cars by 2035 and it's probably for the best; you can't enjoy a car if the planet dies. If you're that worried about it, do what I'm planning to do: buy a used late model Miata and hang on to it. It'll be cheap to keep running (and cheap to track) until you kill it. Sure it won't sound like a glorious V8 but neither does your Stinger.

Oh believe me I know first-hand how scary quick and fun EV's can be (worked for Tesla for a year).

My issue is that electric cars really don't have a soul... like at all...

Although I got to experience 0-60 in 2.2 seconds in a S-P100D first hand it just did not have the raw feel or fun of my WRX that I could manually shift and listen to that exhaust note with.

Part of my enjoyment, even with my stock Stinger, is using the paddle shifters and "feeling" the car shift either up or down. I enjoy hearing (although too weak for my taste) fake exhaust note. I am dying to put on a catback and really wake up the "feel" of my toy.

I know we gotta save the world (although it's strange how with all this climate change and global disaster you still have wealthy politicians taking private jets or buying mansions on the beaches) but I feel so sad that I might not ever get to experience the "crazy" fun after my Stinger. I don't want my Stinger to be the last "fun" car I buy... :p

Thats because the world is full of dumb people these days. Its child abuse what they are doing to people like Greta Thunberg. Look on the bright side though. Its like the movie Idiocracy, youre one of the smartest people on the planet.

Another reason why its so BS. Noone actually cares about climate change. Its the same way with masks. Racism, etc. Its ALL ABOUT POLITICAL CONTROL. The government wants to control you. Little by little stupid people are being brainwashed.

On topic:

EV Stinger would be an awesome edition to the lineup. Faster, good weight distribution, but I don't think it needs "the future" treatment. An EV in today's body style would probably sell pretty well.

Off topic. Don't go further, @MerlintheMad ;)
Don't worry, no one will hit their ICE phase-out goals at this rate. It's politically expedient to say that "we're going full EV by 2030, 2035, or whatever mid-term planning manufacturers are rolling out with today.

First, the grid isn't up to it. Especially with the draw-down of coal and the lack of stomach for fission and the lack of innovation in fusion, there is literally no way the grid can support wholesale adoption of EV today, or in 15 years.

Second, as I've posted before, everyone is going all NIMBY with rare earth metals, except for China. There is no expectation that Western Mongolia has enough rare earth metals to supply the entire world with lithium, molybdenum and whatever else. And who wants to write China all those blank checks, anyway? They are exploring mining these materials in Greenland, but they won't process them there. China will continue to destroy their environment to cash the world's checks.

Maybe, just maybe, by 2035, half of new cars sold will be EV, and half will be ICE. But most likely other power plants will have to have serious innovation, such as hydrogen. My assumption is that in the US by 2050 we may have a 50/50 split on the road unless something really drastic changes.

Sorry! :p

My bad! :p

Meh, I welcome the electric revolution and whatever the next thing the future brings. For some reason, people always tend to find enjoyment in whatever is available and I’m sure electric vehicles will be no different for the enthusiast.

They'll never have that roar!!! :p

They don't have the "roar" now. Not sure where you've been hiding, but since the forced induction revolution, we're getting mostly piped in faux engine acoustics. If it's not a V8, there's nary a "roar" anyway.

Yes, sure, you got me there. But when I say "roar" I mean a good exhaust note. My 2014 WRX with the SPT-Catback sounded fantastic. My buddy's 370z with a straight-pipe sounds brutal. Heck... when I pick up either a MBRP or Borla for my Stinger it's going to sound amazing... that's what I mean... electric cars don't have that engine/exhaust note...

Also, I'm not a big fan of fake exhaust sounds being pumped into the cabin. Not a fan at all. Makes me sad my Stinger has that problem... although I've disabled it in the settings...

As a comuter if its much less than a model s yes i would buy. 300 mile range for my 55 mile back and forth to work and maybe dinner after work would be fine. Then my stinger for actual long drives.

I actually care about racism and masks and my concern has nothing to do with politics. I'm just a normal human with compassion for others. Seems the circle you travel in may be a little...different.

As for EVs, I'm in the camp of enjoying change. When I get bored with my S5 I'll be moving on to something fueled by electricity. I look forward to driving something so quick, even if it doesn't have to "roar" of a turbo powered V6. /s
