Installed Waste Gate adapters and lost all power. Please help.

I just installed the Waste gate adapter wires and was trying map 2. I didn’t get any check engine lights or error codes in the logs. However, there was just no power at all. Please help. I am certain I hooked them up right. If I unplug the EWG wires will the JB4 still work if the wires just aren’t plugged in but are still connected to the JB4?

AEM drop in Panel Filters in the stock airboxes
HKS 45IL spark plugs with stock .026-.028 gap
Fuel wires and EWG wires

I had this same issue, in my case the adapters were not plugged all the way in. Physically it looked right and it was tight enough that the clip was down but I think they are just super finicky.

Because it isn’t needed with the HKS plugs. They come gapped .026-.028 and that is just fine.

Straight from Terry (JB4) : Only map1 has a chance of working well with the factory plug gap. For the 3.3L we suggest closing the gap on the stock plugs to 0.024", or replacing the stock plugs with Denso 5346 plugs and gapping them to 0.022". We suggest HKS plugs gapped 0.022" to 0.026".

I was able to get the EWG wires to work. It was definitely user error. I had the pins hooked up correctly but I switched the driver’s side with the passenger’s side. I thought I had it right but it was wrong both times I tried it. Now it is right and working perfectly.

I changed Default Wastegate Position back to zero. That made shifts a little less jolty. I like the WindBooster for pedal response.

Overall, I am really pleased with the JB4. It really does what they advertise. I have been able to keep my traction issues in check and I am about 5 mph faster in the quarter mile. 12.5 is easy for me to run now where 12.8 was all I could count on before.

I know I can go faster at the track so I can’t wait till I can get back there again. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Now that I have it working properly I am going to try to make a video demonstrating how to connect the wires efficiently. I did it several times this weekend so I got the time it takes for install and uninstall down to 15 minutes total. That includes taking the intake off on the passenger side.

Travis; keen to hear your process with n installing the connectors. I was hoping you could do it by hand without removing anything but doesn’t look possible as they’re buried in there. Haven’t ordered the wires but it’s on the list.

they are basically plug and play, you just need to put the pins in the correct spots on the JB4 which there are picture guides for. really its hard to believe anyone could mess it up, its that easy. For comparison the fuel wires are "harder" to install.

takes 10 mins to install, you ust have to remove the top part of the intake on one side which takes 2 seconds to unclip.

I like to do the bottom part as well. Then you can at least see the clip through the side of the engine bay. Takes an extra minute and a half but can save you some headache.

I disagree. The fuel wires with the adapter a kindergartner could do. Getting your hand in to where the clip is for the EWG wires could be painful if you have large hands. Also that clip doesn’t just pop off. It is hard to push the button and push the clip with one hand. There is a lot to the technique of it.

Also, once you put the cover back on the JB4 you can’t tell which is the passenger side or the driver’s side. I made mistakes on it and I own that. However, it definitely isn’t as easy as you make it sound if you have never done it before.

didnt even know there was a dedicated passenger and driver side with the wires tbh, i guess plugged them in took 10 mins to complete the install and all was good. different fold, different abilities i guess

Yea, it messed everything up when I had them backwards. You just had luck on your side it sounds.

I thought I could get a hand in there to unplug and plug in the wastegate wires, but no chance. Way too packed in there.

The rest of the JB4 install looks surface mounted. These are deep in there.

Do you just remove the air boxes to get the access you need?
