Hello!

I'm getting ready for a pretty big drag event here in NC on 12 May, and I have a few mods that I'd like to make prior to the event.

Current mod list:
Denso cold plugs gapped at .22,
JB4,
BMS CAI.
Eibach sways with Whiteline links.

Even with just those on Map 2 on 93 gas, doing rolls @40 mph against my buddy's Scat Pack, we're neck and neck and I've beat him a few times.

So my question is, would you go for a Mishimoto (maybe BMS?, It's cheaper) intercooler, or go for a Corsa or Magnaflow exhaust? I don't care about sound (I want gains, and don't want droning), and I'm leaning towards the intercooler.

Also, planning on slapping some Vossen HF-5's with 275 in the rear (do I need fatter tires in front? I don't want to compromise twisties!!!) , and JA Air Scoops.

Thoughts on how I can more effectively sting some MOPAR guys? (Nothing against MOPAR [well... maybe]. Scat packs are awesome machines, just a goal of mine!)

Any other suggestions are very welcome! Thanks! :)

If you wanted to be a drag-racer why did you buy a new Stinger when there are cheaper and more capable options out there? The money you saved you could have put into crazy mods...

Anywayz...

That is a really solid mod list... if you can though perhaps replace street tires with racing slicks? Also... if your budget is flexible... why not get some serious weight reduction? Carbon fiber hood, trunk, roof, fenders, steering wheel, etc... gut the trunk and rear seats too...

Good luck! :D

Thanks! And I just love the car that much, and I just want to get it out there and show people that it's VERY capable. I don't have that kind of money on hand right now (thanks Covid), and I'd like for it to look stock aside from wheels. I wanted a great well-rounder. Next csr is going to be a project dragster for sure as a weekend car lol.

WMI is going to add more power than an IC + exhaust combined on 93 octane.... :)

Understood! Good luck friend! :D

Which trim level Stinger do you have? GT, GT1, GT2? RWD or AWD?

I would definitely get the HKS spark plugs sooner rather than later. I have seen not good things with the Densos after hard miles.

Yes WMI is going to make you faster for the least amount of money. However, that install is not really that simple compared to other mods.

Do you have a dragy? What kind of 1/4 mile times and speeds are you hitting? If you don’t have a dragy or equivalent, get one. That is a great way to know how much power you are really making in real world racing scenarios.

I would say the intercooler is the next best option because a turbocharged engine is only as good as the cooling system it utilizes. The Mishimoto one is superior from all of the data I can gather. It is more expensive because it is the only one that offers a complete package from the Y piping through the cold side.

Right now the temps are cold in NC but we will be warming up soon. My suggestion would be to get a dragy and start digging into your logs. Find out when you are making good power and when you are not. Then make the additional mods that will improve your deficiencies.

Is your event at the Rock? There are several people with Stingers that went there often last year. Really fun times.

Coastal Plains in Richlands is where we're usually doing this since I'm on the water.

I appreciate all the feedback, I'll check the Densos after 10k miles to see what kind of damage they took. I have a RWD GT1. Not sure on my actual times right now, but it feels fast on Map 2. I pushed 400 to the wheels on it on dyno, but that doesn't paint the whole picture.

I actually just ordered a dragy, so we'll see! After all research, since it will be warm in May I will get the intercooler, and probably run half a can of Boostane. I know it's not good long term, but just for one day at the track I can't imagine that would be too terrible.

Just copped a set of HF 5 Vossen wheels so I can mount some 285s in the rear, so hope that will help a bit.

12 May? That's a Wednesday. There's nothing going on at Coastal Plains or Rockingham Dragway that day. What Big drag event are you referring to? I'm here in NC too and I like to keep up with all the tracks and schedules and this one confuses me. Besides that, the best Mod is Meth, don't be intimidated. If you want a fast car you're going to have to learn how to work on it, and install performance parts. If you don't, you will have no idea how to trouble shoot and maintain it. A recipe for disaster. If you're close to Fay. I can help.

Sorry, 15 May. We're shooting a commercial for it next month on the 12th. Ordered me a Mishimoto IC, some air scoops, and an OCC today. So yeah, 15th at Coastal plains!!
