I was wondering which models had the automatic lift gate. Does anyone have that option, if so how do you like it, has it held up? Have you had any issues with it?

I like it so far...2 years in. Canadian GT Limited 20Th Anniversary Edition

Really useful, didn’t think it would make that much difference. Auto lift with hands full is also very handy.

The first night of ownership I drove it into the garage, walked to the rear and the hatch flew up.
Lucky for me the door was fully up otherwise I could have very well put a dent in the tailgate so I disabled the feature never to have it ever during my ownership.

That’s always my worry but at least you can scoot away before the 5th beep.

Can also set the max height on the tailgate too, but I haven’t yet.

Not knowing where you're from, in the US it's only the GT2 in earlier model years; I don't know if it's an extra feature that you can choose on lower trims for 2021 or not.

It's been pointed out on here that the lift height of the hatch lid is adjustable. So, you can enjoy what you PAID for and be safe too.

I had it only meh up twice. otherwise, it's a neat party trick.

I turned it off the first day I got my car and forgot about it. I didn't want it beeping every time I walked behind the car. I saw a post on here about how someone wished their car had it so I turned it back on a few weeks ago and yeah...I dig it.

you can set the height but pressing the button at the height you want it to stop, then press and hold to set and then close. In the settings on the steering wheel you can diasable the truck lid and also disable the beeping sound when you walk past it. The thing that annoys me the most about it is the fact that if you have the boot loaded and it senses something it will open again. On any normal old style car, you just slam it down, in the Stinger you have to pack the boot properly to close the lid, annoying to say the least especially when it keeps beeping at you late at night in the dark and you cant see what is blocking it from closing. Otherise its cool

I’m tall and if I were to set it lower, then I’d be banging my head on the hatch.
Can’t win so it’s a delete feature from me.

We sell Kia's here, we tend to have the feature turned on to show people, however we turn it off again before deliever and ask the customer. Many customers prefer to have some sort of manual input for it to open (Like Ford Kick to open type thing).

I have it on the 2019 stinger and I haven't had any problem with it.

Not available on the gt, I have a 2020 gt, pretty sure it's the same for 2021 model as well.

I like it, most of the time. I've noticed that sometimes it sticks closed and you have to hit the button twice to open it. I believe this is due to the rubber seals binding to each other a little bit.

I've also, rarely, had the hatch reach the top of travel, beep, and then start coming back down under power, as if I'd hit the close button. The first time it happened gave me quite a shock since I was already rummaging around in back. Now I wait for it to go up and stay up. It's proven to be totally random and impossible for me to duplicate, but it's happened two or three times in the year and a half I've owned the car.

That's happened to me once, but it was outside and quite windy. I figure the wind tripped the force sensor.

You can push on the tailgate just as it's about to close and it will go all the way and stay shut. Of course, as long as it can physically push luggage out of the way, as a normal manual tailgate would do. Did it many times :)
I also disabled the auto open because I would trigger it by mistake while walking behind the car. (I also disabled the welcome mirrors function as well.)
I do like the power tailgate function though. Especially since my previous car was a wagon and during winters the tailgate struts became less efective and it was so easy to accidentally slam it.

Sounds like you had an issue with this once lol. I know exactly what you're saying, coming across someone being so passionate about getting pissed off at a car once. I love it!

OP I really enjoy it, pull up the shopping cart behind the car and by the time I get the bags in my hand out of the cart the hatch is opening.

I have a 2021 GT1 and do not have power lift-gate; it is only on the GT2 models for 2021.

Sounds like 7Andrei7 above this post has the solution, slam it shut just before it closes, will certainly try this(without smashing out the rear window lol), Thanks Andrei

lol the trunk struts in my GTO are gone and I have to gently let it down and drop it from an inch up or else it either slams and breaks the trunk insert valance thing or doesnt shut. With the auto lift gate its really hard to even shut it manually cause the struts seem to be screw driven.
