Enkei RPF1's installed with weight totals...

I just had the Enkei RPF1's mounted and balanced with new Mich. Pilot Sport 255-40-ZR18 all the way around. I took detailed weights of each rim and tire before and after mounting. Details below...

Enkei RPF1 wheels: 8.5"x18 = 18.6lbs per or 74.4lbs total
Michelin Pilot sport 4s tires: 255-40-ZR18 25.2lbs per or 100.8lbs total

Stock 8.5x19 wheels: 33.2lbs or 66.4lbs total
Stock 8.0x19 wheels: 32.4lbs or 64.8lbs total
Michelin Pilot sport 4 tires 25.0lbs or 100lbs total (Used and a bit worn they were 23lbs ish)

231.3lbs Old Rotational weight
That equals a total of -56lbs of rotational weight the AWD has to turn. Some estimates have that equivalent to over 200lbs!

That's a good performance gain. When I finally decide on a set of new wheels they are going to have to be lighter than the stock set so I'll also achieve some performance gains.

Awesome weight reduction. Can you post a picture of the car on the ground? 18's just look tiny with the suspension drop on a lift.

Bonus: 18's will ride smoother and be cheaper to replace than the 19's.

Aren’t ALL wheels lighter than the stock wheels? That is part of the reason why I went with the heavy G70 wheels on mine. I need more weight to keep traction with my RWD car.

If I tried Darrin’s wheels and tires on mine I bet I could spin them through all of the gears.

Figures that as soon as Darrin got new wheels the weather forecast would change to predicting snow. It is going to be tough to get any real performance numbers in our area for the next few days. Roads will be a mess.

too bad you couldnt do a before/after draggy. I love seeing data points of losing that much rotational weight. Theoretically you should see some effect!

Plus he can rotate these tires since he is square. This really appears to be an excellent performance wheel and tire package. So cool to see it on what is an already fast car. Can’t wait to see how fast he can go now.

I would like to see a test with these new wheels, the spare tire removed, the back seats removed, and the front passenger seat removed. It would be really cool to see what that much weight reduction does to already fast 1/4 mile times.

@Rynil2000 Enkei has about a dozen other models, all in the same weight category. I'll post a pic tonight, my Stinger isn't my daily. Though the wheels are 18", the rubber makes up the difference. These are near identical to the stock height both front and back.
@G70 Owner I do have tons of Dragy and time slips from last year and Jan of this year. I'm just as interested My guess is I'll be 2/10th faster on a prepped track.

RPF1's are an awesome budget track wheel. I'd say the only downside to them is that they look a lot smaller than they actually are when mounted, so a 18" wheel will look more like a 16-17" wheel because of the wheel design.

I came to the same conclusion as why the stock wheels are so heavy. Since changing to lighter rims i get a lot more wheel spin. Its seems the heavier wheel appears to help traction when the rears squat down on take off. I have RWD.

Is there a reason you went with 8.5 on the width? I would assume they have them in 9.5. I cant tell for sure but it looks like yours are gonna poke a bit.

Yes, Rule 1 for me was square setup, I no longer wanted to deal with worn tires just on the backs. Because of that, anything larger in the front doesn't work. Other factors were black in that size, and offset to work without a spacer on the front.

I wonder what will happen if you air down those taller tires? That should help with grip and also add more torque because of the smaller radius.

I get the square setup, I wanted too as well. I'm guessing you mean you don't like how 9.5 looks on the front cause the definitely fit.

Yes I believe they would fit but the offset would have to be pretty short, around +25 I think. Which led to availability of the rim I wanted in Black. It was a bit of trade off.
