Hey everyone, I’m Zack. I’m in Columbus Ohio. I just recently became interested in Kia Stingers and picked one up with 5k miles from a Ford dealership. It’s a 2020 GT Indigo and it was fitted with BMS intake and a JB4 by its previous owner. I don’t have any numbers on it but it pulls noticeably harder than the GT1 I test drove without the tuner. It’s a pretty strong car! So far I really enjoy it. Anyone who wants to talk shop or teach me the ropes about the stinger community feel free to reach out!

Welcome to the hive! Post up some pics when you get a chance

Replaced a GMC Sierra AT4. Turns out I’m not much of a truck man!

Wecome!

Welcome! I’m in the Columbus area as well! You will love every minute of that car!

Interesting that the dealer sold it to you with mods. Did you receive anything in writing that they're supporting the car, as modded, under warranty?

There's a good chance the former owner was a member here, post up some pics/details and maybe they can tell you more about what you have.

Welcome from another Central Ohioan!

I recall seeing an Indigo at Cronin down in Harrison near Cincinnati; but I don't remember whether it was modded or not. Is that the one you picked up?

I didn’t know it had any mods until I showed up for the test drive and quickly realized it pulled too hard to be stock. The dealer actually didn’t know it had any mods until I pointed it out and used that to negotiate a better price. They had one of their Roush techs come out and corroborate my claims that it had in fact been modified and then said they’d take them off if I wanted. I figured if I wanted that I could just do it myself. There is no warranty through that dealer because they weren’t willing to cover the power train on any additional warranty offered in any scenario, so I refused to buy it. Therefore I just have whatever warranty transfers to me through Kia and no stock air boxes in case I need to revert to stock to try and get something covered!

I got mine from Lebanon. I think I remember seeing that one for sale too though. I was kinda looking for one of the models that can vector 100% to the rears in case I felt like hooning in my daily but didn’t wanna go full federation orange over alcantara.

Ouch, you can get stock airboxes on eBay and maybe through one of the several kia parts websites. They may even come up in the classifieds. As long as you got a good deal and are willing to eat the cost of potentially expensive repairs, then -- enjoy!

I'd say the odds of hunting down the prior owner are low, now that I know the full story. They got one over on the dealer, I wouldn't want any confirmation online if I was them. As it is, the dealer may come after them for the value loss in the resale to you. In most states you have to disclose things at the sale/time of trade-in.

I’m surprised they got one over on the dealer. Whoever drove it for the dealer (if they even drove it on turn in) probably got fired. You know right away with the opened up sounds of CAI vs stock on acceleration.

Pretty cool. Vossen makes nice rims

No tune though, so the gains with the mods [catback, plugs] listed are muted. That's probably why they're still warrantying the vehicle. IMO a tune is the hurtle for most dealers to support under warranty. A bad tune can, will, and certainly has on many occasions in the past destroyed an engine.

Hey Zbyrd,

Congrats on your new GT and welcome to the Stinger Forum!

It looks like you really lucked out with a great package from your local dealership.

I would be glad to help answer any questions you might have, give you suggestions on aftermarket parts, or provide you

with a custom discount code to the store.

Feel free to reach out at any time :)

All the best,
Daniel @ K8 Stinger Store

Some pics as requested! I’ve been reading exhaust threads and listening to sound clips but can’t decide! Thinking maybe eibach pro plus kit with Mando ECS 10, primary and secondary DPs, and something low and throaty for cat back. I don’t like that raspy noise in the mid upper RPM that seems to happen in a lot of sound clips.
