Installed pro series today on my '18 GT2. MBRP weight not including box or clamps was 59.7. Stock exhaust came out to 57.4 using my bathroom scale with me holding parts.

Install went OK but I'm pretty pissed for 1000 dollars they send clamps that cant seal and keep things from moving without having an impact. What clamps are people switching to that dont have access to a impact driver?

Sound is really good and drone not too bad with stock tips. Only issue is I need to figure out the clamping issue because it shifted slightly and rests on the stock tips on the passenger side.

Darn if I would have known this I would have never bought MBRP. Cannot believe it weights more than stock. The whole point of buying was to reduce weight. Has no performance benefits and no weight loss benefit. Definitely going to do custom pipe in future. There isn't any!! Information on weight. Or exact gains.

it definitely doesn't weight more than the stock one... whoever did the install themselves cna tell you that the oem mufflers themselves are much heavier than the MBRP

you were able to hold both stock cans and the resonator pipes and stand on a scale? all at the same time? i'd love to see a photo of that for kicks. I can imagine one can over each shoulder and using the resonator pipe to keep the cans on you, but still...it'd be fun to watch.

Anyone who does exhaust mods for weight reduction or any serious power gains is going to be disappointed, on most cars. It's really a sound thing more than anything else.

Larger pipe normally weighs more last time I checked. Also a couple pound difference isn't going to change anything until your car is fully gutted and a full on race car.

Use a longer ratchet and hit it with your purse. you don't need an impact, I've installed lots of MBRP without an impact.

It does make a difference when you are saving 10-20lbs. 60lbs ...I thought it would be at least 35-40lbs

You think you're going to save half the weight on an exhaust? What's this imaginary exhaust made of??

If I gotten the titanium valve control exhaust. That's possible. I haven't seen the weight details. But it's definitely lighter material.

At over 5 times the cost. I cant find any specs on diameter so you have to take that into account, TI is lighter but there will be more of it because its a larger pipe assuming same wall thickness. Which we come back to 30 lbs wont make a difference on any street car. Even at the strip 30lbs roughly equates to .03 seconds faster in the 1/4. Eat a couple salads and take a :poop: before your pass and save 3500$.

Lol no. What I did was weigh myself first and then did each component separately holding them while on the scale. The stock Mufflers were 20 pounds a piece and the stock mid/x pipe was 17.4. MBRP weights were 19.5 for each muffler, X-pipe was I think 11.5, and the two mid pipes were 9.2 combined. YMMV but these are the numbers on my scale. Holding the stock and MBRP mufflers together I did not notice much of a difference and my scale confirmed

I was using a 1/2" drive breaker bar. The problem is when using the breaker bar when you tighten it the pipe shifts and you have to move it again and realign. Even so the clamps look like they are completely bottomed out and the pipe is snug but still able to move a bit with some force

There is probably a difference between the 304 and the aluminized iteration and that's why people here are seeing different results.

I have an impact and the clamps are still crap.

my clamps had to be tack welded to stay in place.

Couple questions as I've been contemplating the MBRP exhaust. First, do the the clams at the x-pipe also not get tight enough? Or is it only the ones near the mufflers? And second - do either of these seem like they'd be an improvement?

Yes, leaks at the muffler clamps where the pipes turn upwards. The other clamps that are further forward have been fine for me.

I only had trouble with my passenger side one leaking. I replaced it with one of these and its been leak-free since. Downside is that there isn't enough room to fit one on the driver's side due to the curve in the piping. If you can find one like this that is shorter it would work. In my opinion, this style of clamp is the best way to eliminate a leak for this application.

Update on my clamps. I replaced all the clamps with standard 2.5 inch U-bolt clamps and was able to get everything nice and tight with no leaks using just a standard 3/8" drive socket. So having to use a 1/2" breaker on the provided clamps is unacceptable. The clamps I used are these
