Does anyone have regrets on a GT rather than a GT1

For the price I want a GT1 it is looking unlikely I am able to get them down to 40 including tax. So my next question is does anyone that own a GT regret not spending the extra few for a GT1?

Unless you're buying used or a heavily discounted 2020 (highly unlikely in Socal) I doubt you'll get to your price point. You would need to find someone selling at $37k which, in the used market, is possible. Regrets?? Yes, you'll regret it, Right before you regret not getting the GT2 with 360 cameras and the HUD. :(

The only reason why I am saying regrets cause I am coming from a 09 Corolla. Which is nothing to brag about it just got me from point A to point B. The used market for the stinger is almost no existent out here. I was looking for a 2020 but none. However I did come across a 2019 GT 2 RWD with only 12k miles. But I am struggling what would be a good offer for that car

I came from a 2016 Mustang Ecoboost and an 2007 Altima before that so I feel your pain. However I can tell you that after looking at all the options , the GT2 looks like the Shitz!! I would love the HUD and 360 camera after owning the GT1.

Well I am actually working on a used GT2 that is just under 15k miles. I am hoping that dealer budges and I can walk out with that one.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
When looking for my '19 GT1, purchased new, I heavily debated the options and benefits before buying. At first, I was only going to get the standard GT. Thought that would be enough for me; 3.3T, great looking, utilitarian hatch. I was trading out of a 2002 Explorer SportTrac, while nothing to write home about, did have a sunroof, which I always liked. I sat back-to-back in a GT and GT1 because I wasn't sure if you could notice or feel the difference between the two. What I noticed is the bezel on the 7" screen and the smaller dashboard screen (which can be swapped, check the forum). They just made the car look cheap and stuck out in the interior. The sound system was also a big seller. It just felt flat in the standard GT. Once you got into the GT1 the highs and lows of the HK system really made a difference. Also, sunroof.

I was nearly sold on a demo 2018 GT2, but I ended up getting the '19 GT1 for the same price. GT2 of '18 didn't have the 360 camera, so I didn't feel like any key features I'd miss out on (HUD, napa leather, and auto-trunk) were that much of a loss considering the jump in options from GT to GT1 of '19. The HUD never looked right to me. My guess is because I'm 6'2" and mostly torso. The top half of the displayed letters/info always got cut off. My hair already brushes the top of the cab if I let it go too long.

Ultimately, the new GT1 was the same as the demo GT2 of the previous year. I wanted a new car, so I went with what made sense for me.

My regrets mainly the auto-trunk and the 360 camera.

Having an auto-close trunk would give me that last 5% of common convenience. Having to push a button on the outside to open and close by hand isn't bad until you get to an airport drop-off or a touchless pick-up situation. There is no lift button on the inside and the key fob only unlocks the trunk on the GT1/GT.

The 360 cameras would be amazing for parking! I curbed my wheel in the first year trying to parallel the car on a dark side street. Now, I back in to spaces 90% of the time and pull through otherwise.

One benefit of the GT1 over the GT2, I believe, is the shifter. Having the option of a manual gate and the regular PNDR options is better for enthusiastic driving than the drive-by-wire of the GT2. The GT2 stays in manual mode for a bit after you use the paddles, but will shift back to D on its own when you stop or don't shift for a while. The GT1, when in the manual gate, will only shift back down to first gear when slowing down, then let you keep control with either the paddles or bumping the shifter until you shift it back to D.

You will notice going from a GT to a GT1. That tacky center screen in the dash in the base GT has no business in a 40k car and while going from 7 to 8 inches of screen may not be a huge deal, the huge bezel on the smaller screen is. Plus the adaptive suspension, sunroof if that's your thing, HK system.. Worth it IMO unless you're using the base GT as a platform to mod because it's the lightest 3.3T Stinger. GT1 to GT2...The auto-open trunk thing and the heated rear seats and rear ambient lighting would be cool, I guess, since I have people back there somewhat regularly, but not worth the 5k jump. Don't care about the HUD, dislike the GT2 shifter, and at the price point of a GT2...There was a Toyota and BMW lot down the road and the A90 Supra was on the floor.

I completely agree with you on all points. Which is why I walked out the dealer cause they said what about a base GT? I already knew they were not going to budge on that price. So now in So Cal the pickings are very slim at this point. I can just hope the used one I made an offer to accepts. If not I might not have a Stinger after all

My suggestion would be to expand your search area...if you can. Cali is taking lockdown measures to a different level, so I don't know how feasible that is for you ATM, but that's another conversation. It's not unheard for people to go out of their local areas, or even to different states, to talk to a dealer that's willing to play ball and negotiate. I got lucky because I personally know people at the dealer I bought my car from but barring that I was also keeping up talks with dealers a couple of states away while I was looking.

I have a 2020 GT RWD. No regrets what so ever.
I came from a new 2008 Nissan 350Z Base manual.
I just needed something bigger, 4 doors, V6, and RWD
If you need all the creature comfort or driver assist, then go for the higher trim.
but for me, I hate sun roof, hate lane kept assist (LKA), i wanna go where I wanna go.
Don’t need a cpu telling me how to drive.
I feel the base stereo system is just fine.
I would have liked the cool seats, seat memory, and HUD. But not at the price to pay.
I used the savings to mod the car.

BTW look up and research, lease buyout
My car, $29,500 before tax, tag, fees
$31,500 out the door.

How fast is your car? Just curious. I have a RWD GT2 and I love the features but it is a little heavier for racing. Do you have the stock tires? Do you have any traction issues?

I don’t track or race the car. Don’t have a dragy. Have not dyno the car
It’s just my DD. Stock tires. Do have some traction issues on map 2 from a dig

I thought about the lease and I am still thinking about it but I am entirely not sure yet. So let me ask you this and anyone else in this forum if this is a good deal or should I keep haggling for lower. 2019 GT2 RWD 12k miles on it and the dealer is offering me a out the door price of $41,804.24.

if you can wait, wait!. Historically lease rebate are highest late in the year, GT2 rebate $9,000-$9,700 has been the norm
can get a brand new GT2 for around $42K OTD, people have done it before.
Also considered whats your history with cars. Do you tend to get cars every few years or drive them till the wheels fall off?
If your like me, keeping cars for a while, brand new is the way to go.
I’m 39, since 16, this is my 3th car.

Unfortunately I cannot wait since I have been car less for about week now since my car gave out on me. I was hoping that it my previous car lasted until June but it did not unfortunately.

sorry don’t know what used prices would be a good deal.

As the new owner of a new GT, I can say that for the price I don't have any regrets. I was looking at around a $5,000 difference between a GT and a GT1. The only "upgrades" on the GT1 that I really wish I had are: (1) memory seats / power adjust steering wheel; and (2) outside mirrors that auto-dip when reversing (at least I think the GT1 has this). The other upgrades (ECS, sunroof, etc.) would've been nice to have, but I don't in any way miss them. And on top of all of this, I actually did not want the nanny tech. So for me it was a no-brainer.

The ONLY upgrade I wanted on the GT1 over the GT was the HK Stereo. I could care less about the sunroof and the other electronic features available on the upper trims. I just couldn't get myself to throw down another $5-6k just for the better stereo so I settled for the GT.

does the screen size bother you at all? The stereo is not a big deal cause I could just get aftermarket if worst comes to worst

Doesn't bother me at all, sure it's an inch smaller than the other screen and has larger bezels on each side but it's perfectly fine to me. Does everything I need it to do.
