Tiny light near sunroof switch?

I have noticed there is a tiny light that is sometimes on and sometimes off near the sunroof switch. Its not bright enough to illuminate anything so its some sort of indicator light. What is it for? I have looked through the manual but didn't find anything.

It's in my optima and my kids Jeep as well. It is not an indicator. It is a light to light up the center console. (Cup holder area) it is not very bright on purpose as that would be annoying. But it does make a difference. Next time it's dark, out one hand down by the cup holders and then cover the light it a finger from your other hand. You will definitely notice a difference.

Well said. That little light does a perfect job of helping see what you are doing without being obtrusive. Put a tiny piece of translucent colored plastic or tape over/in the hole and some instant one color mood lighting can be had. Haha.

Yes, I have it in my Accord as well. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had a car that didn't have it.

I believe the light is there so the overhead console can be used in applications w/ manual transmission. Federal law requires some light on a stick. I know the Stinger is not offered w/ a stick.

Do you have a source on that? Seems like an odd requirement, I can't find anything with a few quick google searches.
