Has your Stinger ever been confused for another car brand???????

Flameangel, Confusing the Stinger for a Lexus: People can be so rude. Where are their manners??? So, the dead giveaway the Stinger is a Kia is the tiger nose grille. Without changing the grille, all the rebadging in the world cannot disguise the Stinger brand.
True, if they look closer I have kia advertised on the car, I have the Kia service sticker on the right front side and the stock Kia badge on steering wheel when you look inside.

Genesis, I think you make an important point here: Does the badge of a car make the car? BMW, Audi, Mercedes (among others) can live off their laurels and overcharge. Yet, the Stinger is not appreciated even though driving it may compare to an orgasm. After all, it is a Kia. Yet, Hyndai and Kia have been making great cars for some time. That is what is intriguing to me. Brand determines quality. Surely, cars, like life, are more nuanced.
Over here at least, people are recognising that the Kia brand has improved in leaps and bounds in the last 10 years or so, Kia's are very popular here, mostly see Sorrento's, Sportage, and the most popular seller for the dealerships has been the Cerato's. they have always taken the baulk of the sales.Since the Seltos was launched, they are selling like hot cakes and my local dealership advised at least a 6 month wait. Kia have always had the long warranty and are known for reliability so unless you are an original badge snob people are taking notice of the brand.
The Stingers are becoming more common place where I live but are still unique and the price tag is probably why they are not so common but they sure draw attention when on the road.

IMO: That makes Australians smarter than Americans. The Telluride is some vehicle, based on what I have read. I am not into school buses, though. My wife likes those SUV's.

The performance sedan is becoming less prevalent. Yet, it is fun to drive.

Ok this just happened again to me today and completly unexpected what my stinger got mistaken for.

I went to get gas and a guy eyeballs my car as I pulled in to pump. He said hey man what kind of car is that. Is the a Ferrari? I smiled behind my mask and said its a kia stinger. He goes oh ok....very good looking ride man. I said thanks and went on with my business.

I have the E badge front and back. I was leaving Menards and the young guy gathering shopping carts stops to tell me how sweet my car is. He goes on to say his dad has one and they are so great etc. etc. The conversation actually lasted a couple minutes about how powerful the car is and how it handles. - End of conversation as he is walking away he sais, Yup, Maseratis are sooo awesome! I just smiled and drove away.
Did you tell him your car was "engineered for excellence?"

Ferrari ?? ...has he just teleported from a different dimension ?

Not long after I got my Stinger, I was walking away after parking it and two guys in a back car were driving around the corner.
Their windows were down and I was within ear shot. They were nearly breaking their necks turning to look at it and one said " I don't think it's an exotic " the passenger had his head down looking at his phone, no doubt googling what brand of car they had spotted.
I sure would have liked to have heard and seen their reactions when they found out it was a Kia.

Strange how a super car can be confused for a grand touring vehicle.

Mid-30s mom seeing it in the driveway from behind: "Is that the new Mustang?!" Errrrm...nope!

Thinking the same thing. Our stinger is in no way shape or form even closely resemble a Ferrari.
I agree. The only thing that is even remotely similar is the GTC4Lusso and that is a massive stretch.

I think that has more similarities to a Toyota Supra than a Stinger.

I was leaving work late last night and ran into the security guard. My company recently moved to a new building, so I haven't really talked to the guy. I was with a small group of people and while I waited for everyone to shuffle out the door into the rain to their cars, he turns to me and says "Hey, You drive a really nice car. Have you ever had any problems with it?"

I say thanks and mention the only warranty issue has been a bad camera sensor that I had to get the dealer to replace at ~1K miles. That and the short lifespan of the rear tires

He goes "Oh wow, that's good considering it's an Alpha Romeo" I can only assume he meant a Giulia.

I tried to correct him, "Oh, it's a Kia." But it just went in one ear and out the other with nothing more than a "uh huh" and then started talking about a "Jaguar SUV" (F-Pace) that belonged to a co-worker. He actually had that one correct.

Should I be worried that our overnight security guard isn't very... observant?

I guess the headlights look a tiny little bit alike if squint a lot, or aren't wearing you prescription lenses... perhaps worth an inquiry to see if they have an optical plan?

It appears your security guard is also selectively deaf. Deafness and not very observant does not make a great security guard
