Looking at snows for the stinger. Generally to gain a bit more ground clearance and change the final drive I go as tall as possible. Most newer cars seem to have less and less clearance in the wheel wells and I don't want to eject the fender liners like on my previous beaters. Is there any risk of rubbing with a 225/50R18 and 8" wide et 40square setup? The tire is specd at 26.9" diameter. I also see wheels even narrower at 7.5" wide with et40. Or what about a 215/55R18? (27.3 diameter)

"As tall as possible"!? What about the manual warning to stay in spec? You don't care about that? And speedometer being way off? My understanding is that messing with the OD like that can damage bearings and other components.

Your understanding is a bit off then, wildly changing offset can negatively affect bearings, bigger circumference will mean the bearing is moving slower for the same ground speed. I can do simple math in my head for the couple percent the speedo is off.

That first setup shouldn't give you any fitment issues, I'm running 225/45r18 on 18x8 +30 for winters with zero issues and plenty of room.

Yeah I mean I'm pretty sure that's a factory size though the offset might be a bit pokier

I used to run a taller tire on my WRX, and did the math for an inch taller tire on the Stinger (using an online calclator) and the speedo would only be off between 1 and 3mph at most legal speeds. Massively changing the width of a tire/wheel combo (in addition to offset as mentioned) can stress bearings. I wouldn't really worry about that on this car unless the folks regularly tracking their cars start mentioning having to replace them.

The discussed height change might have a weird impact on the traction control of the all-wheel drive cars. Might. Sort of the like the stories people told about the Alfa Romeo Guila AWD getting stuck when moving slowly up a ramped driveway. Car doesn't know what to do with the data and freaks out. Pretty sure it would be all over the forums already though.

Yup its the oem size when you get the 18" wheels with all season tires. Only difference is my setup is +30 and the factory wheels are +34. So with your setup being so close I cant imagine you have an issue other than what's been stated. Your biggest concern should be offset and ensuring whatever wheel you go with will clear the brembo brakes because that becomes more of a challenge when your looking at 18" aftermarket wheels.

Tire rack said they'd fit so

Good luck, not saying they won't they probably will but I'm not sure that Tirerack considers caliper clearance since wheel spoke thickness is all over the map. What style wheel did you go with?

At +40 you might have issues rubbing the strut or spring on the inside of the front wheel. I can't post links yet, but take a look at the "We (I) have the meats" post on the forum. It has a picture of the inner clearance of Jetspike7's setup. Considering your 8" vs his 9", your +40 vs his +33, your 1/2" less radius (which with the angle of the strut might be around 1/3" less clearance or more). I suck at math but you might have 2mm more clearance than him for the wheel if the spring isn't in the way on a stock spring and strut? Or is it less?

I want your setup to work, because it means there's hope for the 18x9+35 setup I want to run.

(I understand external links., but t's weird that I can't post link within the site itself)

Do the stock 18" premium Stinger wheels fit on the awd gt? Looking at those for possible winter wheels. The offset is the same as the 19's, I was just worried about clearance over the brakes.

Cant imagine it not working, I'm running 18's on my winter setup,
