Dyno Results

Local shop dyno tune (Blood Type Racing). Didn’t want to go crazy aggressive with the tune, just wanted some decent gains.

I’d be interested to know why their dyno tune made significantly less power than the canned tune they advertise on their website, which is also marketed as being conservative.

Looking strictly at the numbers alone, it looks similar to JB4 Map1 output.

I’m sure there are other refinements since it’s an ECU tune as opposed to a piggyback.

Very nice. By the way, how do you like the Magneflow exhaust?
i like it, but...if you want LOUD, the MF is not for you. it's a bit louder and more of a rumble than stock, but not much. if the stock exhaust is a 1 on a scale of 1-10, the MF catback is about a 2.5. imo, this is what the stock exhaust should have sounded like. there are times i'd like a bit more volume out of it (like a 3.5-4), but if you are looking for a stock-ish, not obnoxious increase in volume, the MF will do that.

not sure what their website says, but when i spoke with them they anticipated i'd see hp/tq gains of 50+ which is about what I got (a bit more actually). i asked about the canned tune, which i personally wasn't comfortable doing, and was told that typical gains from the canned tune are definitely less than the dyno tune for fairly obvious reasons. :)

Now I’m even more interested in why what they’re saying is contrary to the dyno graph that you posted and the one on their website.

I’d agree too that the dyno tune should be better than a canned tune, but the numbers just don’t bear that out in terms of power.

I just want to reconcile the two opposing tales.

i just looked at their site. :) the dyno graphs they show for the canned and dyno tunes are the same. just guessing here, but i'm assuming the hp numbers being a bit higher than mine and the tq numbers being a lot higher are based on whatever mods the vehicle they used had and that they probably pushed that car to the extreme to get those numbers. i wanted something safe and stock-like without going too crazy. i got what i was promised +56hp/+67tq and i'm happy with it. plus i know it's rock solid and backed by a very reputable shop.

I’m glad you’re happy. And my questions aren’t directed towards you since I know you’re not likely to be able to address the inquiries.

I’m still interested in how they arrive to those numbers. BTR had an in-house tuner, whose contract expired. For quite some time they weren’t offering any tunes because they lost their tuner. They then partnered with AlphaSpeed and that’s who’s doing their tuning now.

Some other members have dealt with them before.

I think adding the secondary cat deletes would give you that 3.5/4 you’re looking for.

@DaBears4Lyfe is the BTR and Alpha Speed tune expert and may be able to comment.
